...is there any way we could cheat death? How could he determine cancer for some people and when they were likely to die? Why would he do that anyway?

lifesajoy: if someone made a wrong choice and killed you... would that not be in God's plan too? Surely it would?

Every individual is free to chose their own path in life. God is omniscient, but God's foreknowledge does not negate our free will. God sees the future as clearly as he sees the past. He exists outside of our dimension of time & space. From the perspective of God, he sees furture events as though they were already done.

So, God does know how and when we'll die, but that does not mean that he is causing the event itself. Yes, God can chose to intervene in the normal flow of our lives...but He only does so if it is according to His will and a greater purpose.

God is omniscient just as an author knows the end of his own novel. God knows but He can choose not to remember. Jesus visited St Margret Mary, her confessor wanted a sign that the apparition was true and asked her to ask Jesus what he confessed in his last confession. Jesus said I don't remember. So Jesus choose not to remember (even though He knew) and so kept the seal of confession.

God knows all through foreknowledge. This does not mean that is is emotionless about our lives if you notice in the Bible, He gets very emotional when things happen, and He has joy in the presence of the angels when someone repents and turns to Him.

God says in the Bible that he knows when the sparrow will fall. That means he knows when and how you will die. It does not say he knocks the sparrow out of the air! Meaning that he does not try to control it or make it happen. Disease and accidents are part of life, just as lucky escapes and recoveries. He gave us free will to make choices. Such as smoking, pollution, driving drunk or too fast.

No. Our lives have not already been chosen for us. God doesn't exist.

The only way we'll "cheat death" is to find out how to preserve our bodies and brains through science. Maybe someday we'll figure out how we work, enough that we'll be able to live as long as we wish. Of course, the universe will end someday, so even that is only a postponement of death.

Our lives has been written out and is more like a guide, we can take it and live our life's to the most, or then you can take your life and live it wrong. It really is your choice. Really don't know why some people die of something bad, but everything has a purpose.

We cant cheat death and we certainly cannot cheat God either. God knows our every move before we make it, He knows our every thoughts before we think it. We live in God's World not our own.

Because God gives us challenges in this life. But although he knows when we are to die, we can be cheated and have our life taken early by other people making wrong decisions.
