JEANS???? NO WAY!!! I stayed there last year, and there were no jeans allowed and no trainers allowed past the front desk. You cannot wear trainers/jeans/t shirts and get into the bar or the Palm Court where tea is served.
I had tea at the Ritz on a Sunday, and nice slacks and a nice top and no trainers are pretty much the dress code...you don't have to be "formal" but you must dress in appropriate clothes or they'll show you the front door. (nicely of course...)
