Recently, I've been having urinary tract troubles. I frequently visited my doctor for it and was prescribed antibiotics for the UTI's, but last month I was referred to a specialist-a nefrologist(sp?)-a kidney doctor, because a high amount of protein and a little blood was found in my urine samples.
The specialist took some of my blood for testing and will have some results back at the end of this month. She explained in a very broad range of maybe why my kidneys are allowing too much protein into my urine. All the reasons she suggested sounded very serious which has got me worried.
So now I am just in a waiting period. I've been researching this online, but I was wondering if anyone knows about this from experience or could offer any professional insight.
Thanks for your help.

HELLO !! WHEN I WAS TWELVE YEARS OLD I HAD GLOMERULA NEPHRITIS ( IM NOT SURE I SPELLED THAT CORRECTLY) MY URINE HAD EXCESS ALBUMIN / WHICH I THINK IS PROTEIN AND IT HAD A WEE BIT OF BLOOD ALSO.IM SO GLAD THAT YOU HAVE CONSULTED A SPECIALIST. BECAUSE NOW-A-DAYS THE DIAGNOSIS WILL BE MUCH BETTER THAN WHEN I HAD IT IN 1948. I MAYBE MISTAKEN BUT I THINK POSSIBLY ITS HEREDITARY. YEARS AGO I THINK THEY CALLED IT BRIGHTS DISEASE ( AGAIN I MAY NOT HAVE SPELLED THAT CORRECTLY. MY MOM HAD IT WHEN SHE WAS A LITTLE GIRL IN BRIDGTON MAINE .BE SURE TO WATCH YOUR DIET , NO SALT, OR SPICY STUFF. YOULL BE COMPLETELY CURED BUT DO EXACTLY AS TOLD . AND DONT MISS ANY PERIODIC CHECKUPS WITH THE DOCTOR. DO GET WELL- - - AND ONCE AGAIN IM SO GLAD YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS.

I had a similar problem once. I had a really big bruise where I had backed my lawnmower (gravely) into my leg (against a tree) It was black and blue and bigger than my hand. I had my dot physical the next week, and the Dr. called me back for retest because of protein in the urine. In my case it was the breakdown of the damaged tissue, (and normal) wheras if I had had similar readings it might have indicated something bad. Antibiotics are deadly (and cause the same phenomenon of dead protein which has to be eliminated). You need to fugure out what the problem is and find a healthy solution for it. Vitamin C to bowel tolerance (you take as much as you can without it giving you "the runs") is very effective against UTI's, and has very small side effects.

Protein in urine can be a symptom of kidney failure.
