There are similarities, but only in image. During the Inquisitions, in order to "battle" the dirty ol' Pagans (who were merely common people/peasants/hicks) with their horrible cultural practices (sarcasm here) they used the image of the "Horned God" to give an image to their Satan. But that is where the similarities end.
What is truly amazing is how they used that image to say that it was actually Satan (they also used Pan) and yet, you can find Cernunnos' images in the oldest churches in Europe. He is also linked to what is called the "Green Man", which is also used in the churches. Which, to me, this appears that they used those images to allow for the Pagans to worship at their churches, in order to convert them... and then used those same images to say they were truly worshipping Satan (in their own church).
I'm not saying all Christians during that time did this. But it does appear those in charge used these things in order to further their cause.

Yes, there is. A similarity created by Christians in fact, as the church fashioned their devil to look like the gods of the religions they were competing against. Take a look at the classical representation of Satan. Horns, goat hooves, and a pitchfork are his most distinguishing characteristics. The horns come from Pan, Cernunnos and other fertility gods. The hooves come directly from Pan. The pitchfork is none other than Neptune's trident. The image of Satan you use today is Middle Ages propaganda created by the church,if you don't believe me, I challenge you to find 1 bible verse that says that Satan looks like that.

No, Cernunnos is the development of the image of a shamen wearing a deer skin with antler head dress, (think native American medicine man wearing buffolo headdress) as seen in the cave paintings in vaious locations.

Any similarity was created by the church. Turning another religion's gods into your devils is just one of the many tactics they implemented when trying to eradicate the pagan religions.

The wiccans once told me that their horned one came from the cave drawings on caves from th animals that were worshipped in nature and witchcraft that was practised back then, but when I got into the practice of the craft, I soon learned that they use the power of satan and not the power in nature-its the horned one, satan.

Read Scriptures. It tells you all you need to know about worship. Who to worship, how to worship, and when to worship. Yes the "Wiccan" is a takeoff of true faith. It is all about worship. Almighty YHVH deserves worship. The adversary wants it!
