Is that the only thing keeping you from doing those things? You don't have a sense of doing what is right without Christ? So, if you found out Christ wasn't real, you would plunder the city you live in? *I'll keep my eye on the news for something like this*
You WORK in a prison. Totally different when you are on the other side of the bars, don't you think? You can come and go as you need to... prisoners don't have that freedom. I'm sure you sleep in a nice bed and watch tv, talk on the phone, go to the fridge.... Are they installing fridges in each cell now?

It's sad that you even have to ask that question. When I was a non-theist (I am Asatru now), I had a girl ask me how I could be good if I didn't believe in the great reward and the ultimate punishment.
I answered simply- because it is the right thing to do.
When you do wrong to others, you do wrong to yourself.
You know in your heart what is wrong and you damage yourself when you do wrong. What goes around comes around. Things balance out. People who just "live it up" rarely live happy lives. Instead, they spend their lives partying harder, getting into more self-indulgent trouble, because they are searching for that happiness that they deny themselves thru selfishness.
Happiness comes in being with and caring about others- in brotherhood and community, family and friends. The greatest gift you can have is a good friend, and the greatest you can give is your heart in friendship.
If you live your life "for you", then you can't ever have any real friends because no one can trust you.
All you can truly leave this world with is your honor, and all you can truly give to your children is your good name.
Living a life of honor is not about any god or gods (tho having them can help). It is about being a PART of mankind, rather than separating yourself. This is something you should be able to do with or without a god or gods. A god can help you and guide you, but all people should learn themselves well enough to be true to MAN without a god. If you cannot be true to MAN on your own, how can you hope to be true to any GOD?
Learn to be true to yourself and to mankind, and live your life with honor.
Do these things and your spirituality will fall in line by itself, and you will find the path which is true to all; yourself, mankind and deity (whatever that might end up being for you). If you cannot be true to all three, then you cannot really be true to any.

Moral evil results from the exercising of our free will. If we freely choose not to do that which is good, evil results. For example, a person covets someone's possessions, acts upon the desire and steals the possessions, and thus harms the person he stole from. Had the potential thief not acted upon his covetous desires -- which would have been the good thing to do -- no harm (evil) would have occurred. Remember sin is a choice.
As a member of a society, it is generally supposed that the needs of the society are more important than the needs of the individual. To promote the common good means to benefit members of society. Thus, in essence, helping the common good equates with helping all people, or at least the vast majority of them

That is ridiculous. You need to validate your life as being good only through faith? Like you personally would be out on the street stealing from people right now if you don't believe in god? Come on, now. Living it up the way you describe it will only get you to your grave faster, and no one wants that. Being a good person is not based on faith, it's based on what you do for others, and living within the laws of the land (not god-law), not what flavor of god you choose.

To understand Christ is first to understand GOD. Everything that lives does not live for frilvilous reasons. We are here for a purpose, and if you observe, everything that is created has a purpose, even the appendix had one at some point. But to live in this manner is lawless and self centered; It results in pandemonium not only one's life but in the surrounding innocent people, and provides a negative role model for the misguided. That type of living perpetuates ignorance, but this is the fateto which we are bound. If one believes that a GOD would create something for the purpose of death and murder, then that thought is more sadistic than the God they misintepret. FAITH is the starting point, if you seek to find the truth about Christ, realize the futility of your life, how circular and empty it truly is, how this life is just worthless and meaningless without purpose. Let this life come to an end, so that CHRIST can give you life.

Lots of reasons. If the existence of a god is the only reason that you are a decent human being, I fear you.
I'm an atheist. I've never committed a major crime. I work as a nurse and try to do regular volunteer work.
I live a good life because having friends is far more important to me than material possessions. If I lied/cheated/stole, I doubt that I would have many friends.

Aside from the laws that are in place, we all know that it is easier in life if we have people that are helped and can help. If you follow a life that is not good then no one would help you when you need help. Regardless of Religion people must help one and other in order to just survive.

Leading a moral life is not dependent on being afraid of punishment. The desire to see mankind continue to grow with knowledge and solve the problems we have so we can live in a society that treats everyone equally. I choose to live a moral life because it is a positive way to share how we can live together peacefully with respect for each other.

Ah, another christian who thinks people cannot have morals without turning their brains over to the meat-grinder of religion. With or without god people realise that they are part of a collective and that they need to respect others if they are to survive. We are social animals, we have evolved into social animals and that makes sure that those who are antisocial will not retain the protection of the group for long.

well you could look at it like this, if you live a good life and believe in crist and that he died for your sins you will go to heaven when you die. or you can not believe and live it up and when you die miss out on heaven and all the things you could ever imagine then you will be tourcherd for the rest of eternity. so if you just do good and believe you cant loose because your life will play out so much better. its a win, win situation
