The term Atheist only alludes to what someone doesn't believe in (a creationist God), but has no connection to what someone does believe in. I, as someone who doesn't believe in the God theory (I loathe the term Atheist because it is against something rather than being for something) have many beliefs. I do have hope, although I don't like that term, it sounds desperate, but I believe in a future beyond this one. I believe in reincarnation, the immortal soul, ascending consciousness and karma - the balance of good and evil, or rather light and dark. Evil is a Christian perspective.

Thank you Aq-PHX, I needed a reminder of those lyrics. Not negative at all, about life in the here and now. Focus.

Well, I guess this is yet another example of how differently people experience things.

I think that "Imagine" is a song that expresses a great deal of hope - hope for humanity to wake from greed, and selfishness, and the pursuit of power-over-others.

You mean "no heaven, no religion, and therefore hope".

Your understanding of the song is apparently no better than your understanding of religion.

No heaven and no religion are fine by me but there is always hope even for atheists. For a start I hope the religious nutters (of all religions) in the world will see reason and stop killing people.

You almost got it right. No religion, no heaven, world peace & lot's of hope.

We just don't try to rationalize a mythological story book written in the Bronze Age claiming that it's real.

Lennon songs are more relevant than Jesus's teachings.

I'm flattered to be compared to John Lennon. He was a wonderful person.

You seem to have missed the very positive meaning of the song entirely...it's a shame for you that's all.

No. Just because heaven and religion give you hope doesn't mean that they're true!
