I am a catholic but i dont attend church on a regular basis. I find that the teachings in the bible and at service are great and they help me have a better overall life. I also believe thats how other religions are too. I guess what im saying is that how can you be this type of christian and then be a different type of christian. They are so similar in that they help you become a better person. But im just wondering how someone can crossover to some other aspect of christianity? Is it the way its presented? Is it being brain washed? How do you know what the differences are b4 u switch? How does the process work that you start to change your mind about what church to go to or whatever. Im catholic and I wounder, why would consider change? Do i have to think something is wrong with the religion b4 I change? I dont get it. Main Question is Why? but please feel fre to answer all questions, thanks for your input.

Christianity is based on the Bible which we believe to be the Words of God. Therefore we accept what the Bible says by faith, which God tellls us is the only way to Him. At the end of the Bible, in the last few verses we are told not to add anythng more or take anything away from this Book. What you believe is based on how strictly you stick to what the Bible says. All variations in belief and in religion comes from whether or not you add to or take away from the Bible. Those who stick to the Bible are pretty consistant in what they believe. Now there are a number of things that you can add to the Bible in the case of Catholocism, it is traditions, sacraments, Pope, the rosary etc, etc. But humansists add human reason to the Bible, Pentacostals add experiences, Mormons add the Book of Mormon, Muslims add the Quran, individuals add feelings. What you have to decide is what is going to be your "authority" for what you believe. Personally I settled that issue over 50 years ago, and I just simply believe the Bible.

Friend, We need a personal relationship with God Through the Blood of Jesus Christ, & then we can see what religion is correct. My testimony is this. as a sinner I was raised Methodist, but while I was still a sinner, I knew that Methodist did not have anything , so I started in a Oneness Pentacostal Church, I went there for 4 yrs. Before God even dealt with me, Then in 1970 is when God dealt with me, But it did not take me long to see that pentacostal church was not teaching the truth , I was yanked on by people saying follow me & others follow me, So I knew there had to be a Truth somewhere, so I said look at all these denominations, & everyone has different ideals & they all are wrong, So I said I am going to see what The Apostles of Old taught, & that is where I am at today, I started to go to another church in 1974, & I have been there since. So if you want to know really which one is right, Study the teachings of the Apostles of Old.

It is probably due to the changes in the churches.
You may attend the church with the best preacher today, but preachers come and go.
Two years from now, your church may not have the same preacher and another church may have a fabulous preacher.
Some do not think a person should leave because of the preacher, but he is the untimate authority on the scriptures in your church, and he is the person that is supposed to teach you how to be a good Christian.

It is usually not that we have changed our beliefs, so we change churches.
Obviously if we joined a church we must have believed that they taught properly before we joined that church.

Sometime, churches develop factions, and you just want to get away from the factions.
The church is supposed to be about God, not about us.
If factions develop, it is not a positive thing.

It can be disturbing to see someone leave a group you love and put faith into. You ask why though, so here goes-
A person that examines what their beliefs are, and what they are told by the priest or preacher, if they do enough research themselves, might reach a point where they think that something else matches the beliefs they have found to be true.
Brain washed? No. Brainwashing happens to weak minded people, and the methods employed in that are not used in any real Chistian church. By weak minded, I mean people that don't know what to believe, or are really unsure of how they think.

The heart of the Catholic Religion is Jesus and how we show our love of Jesus as we love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Sometimes people cross over because they approach their faith on the feeling level and not on the faith level. In the early days, Catholics built schools while other denominations built fellowship halls.
Now the schools are closing and are becoming fellowship halls. The newer Churches are building fellowship halls without schools.
