I have been up writing a paper. All of a sudden, i had trouble catching my breath, the parts of my arms from my elbow to my hand felt numb and i felt very "out of it." I guess I felt lightheaded, but it was more along the lines of "out of it." I felt that when I talked, I heard my voice differently. Like maybe my hearing was going out. This went on for about 5-10 minutes..then I got chills. Next, I became really tired. What happened to me? If anyone can answer this accurately, please do.

There are quite a few people I know who are either 14/15 dating or interested in a 18/19 year old, or 18/19 dating or interested in a 14/15 year old. To be honest, I did date a guy who was 18 when I was 14. I have to warn you, some activities involved with dating may be illegal with this age gap; there would be very little intimacy possible without breaking the law and getting one or both of you in serious trouble. Pretty much all you could do is hugging and cuddling, not that that's bad. Since he is older, he will likely want to do things that you guys really can't do. With this age gap there may be some difficulties with communicating and connecting just because he would be experiencing things that you won't for years. Another thing to consider is that people WILL judge you for doing this if you choose to. This is a very complicated subject, and people are quick to pass judgement. You would need to be certain that you are okay with that. I personally think it might, MIGHT work if you are both very careful, but I really don't think its a good idea. You can be friends, you can like him, and even flirt with him if you like, but dating would be difficult and risky.

I've had it happen when I've been awake too long, especially in college. Have you been eating? You may simply need nourishment. Have you had a lot of caffeine? Too much can cause difficulty sleeping, muscle twitching, confusion, in and out of consciousness, increased urination, and increased thirst. This sounds a bit like a caffeine overdose.

I am guessing your body is reacting to the stress of an all-nighter or two? My body reacts with the same systems when I am hungry, thirsty, and up too late. Caffeine will do the same.

Hope you're feeling better now. Don't take any pills like No-Doz, etc., as they will contribute to dehydration. You sound as if you were drained and dehydrated. Just be careful not to over-extend yourself in the future.

Could be something else, of course, but I thought this was most likely.

Is there any family history of migraines? What you describe is identical to a "migraine aura". It's really scary but honestly if it is that there is no damage, just a freaky experience! I first had one at 19, thought I was dying. I told my Dad and he (who gets normal migraines) told me about his "aura" at university at 19 also, it was the same. We've both only had a few more, not nearly as severe or scary as the first. As far as I know it isn't really "brought on" by anything in particular. Research and see if that fits for you. Good luck. Hope your paper turned out good. Oh, and try not to panic when you don't know if there is anything to panic about!

This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Consult a doctor if it persists. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

Could be exhaustion, excess caffiene, or low blood sugar. Or perhaps a combination. Best of luck.
