How pretty of a thing this can be!
Centerpieces could be low fish bowels made up to look like mini-ponds....use large "flatter" bowel w/wide opeining, put some river stone in the bottom,(not too many), get some gold fish (but maybe get the "koi" type, looks more "forest-y"), pick up some fake lily pads (from the pet store)-the type w/the blooms on them. You can either use floating candles (traditional and seen before) or you could get those table top lanterns--the type like look like a mini planter's hook w/the lantern hanging from them--and place it so that the lantern hangs over the bowl. Then scatter some glitter around the base of it on the table (fairy/star dust!)

For your colors, you could go w/midnight-sapphire blue and silver...or whimsical colors like sage/orange/pinks/golds/lilacs...based on what time of year you're having it. (I'm partial to the blue/silver for that particular theme though...)
You're dresses should be in a Renessiance style, they make some GEORGOUS ones now w/beautifully flowing chiffon....very "Maid Marion"/"Guinevierre"-ish.

General decorating...LOTS of cascading candles, use candelabras that spiral or cascade downward. If you use pillar candles anywhere, get them in varying heights.

LOTS of tewell net, organza, chiffon---flowing material.

You can buy champagne/beverage fountains on Ebay pretty cheap right now, and that adds a whimsical affect, they light up and you can decorate around it accordingly.

Pretty votives holders done in pewter w/a forest fairy or woodsy theme would be a great favor, and very reuseable! Fill w/alternating blue/white candles for added color on the tables.

I made an actual life-size wishing well for my sister in laws wedding...she had a forest-y theme to hers as well....and it was perfect! Looked like the real thing, I made it to look like a stone well. I've typed up instructions complete w/illustrations which I've shared w/MANY people here, I'd be glad to forward it to you if you'd like, just email me! I have tons of other ideas as well if you're interested......I LOVE TO PLAN WEDDINGS!!!

What a great idea for a wedding theme!

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare written sometime in the mid-1590s. It portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors in a moonlit forest, and their interactions with the fairies who inhabit it.

If your wedding is at night, be sure to have it lit with little white lights. I think it's obvious that you could do some sort of "fairy" theme, like have your flower girls dressed like that (with wings) and any ring-bearer as a "sprite." You could have a great time with decorations and the theme... and quite beautiful wedding photos, too! Maybe you could have a bubble machine going at the dance floor... there are all kinds of ways to have fun with this and make it your own!

Here's a link to someone's description of a birthday party with that theme. http://www.partypop.com/themes/BRTH0018.html
You'll can adapt and take some of those ideas and make them appropriate for a wedding.

Have fun!

OMG... your fiance is awesome!!! I love a Midummer Night's dream!!! shakespeare's best play ever!!^-^ decorate the reception area with lots of little candles, flowers and vines. you could set up little fairy figureines (you can find some pretty ones at the dollar stores) oh, and put some glitter on things-it'll make it seem sparkly and mystical at the same time. mostly decorating it with aerthy looking things, combined with elaborate shiny things(like candle holders) will create the right, fairy-ish setting. you could name the tables after the characters from the play, and if you have willing firends, have them act out pyramus and thisbe, juts like they did at Hippolyta and Theseus's wedding at the end!! congrats and good luck!!!
here's a toasting/ cake set for a bride and groom with a fairy theme: http://renstore.com/ItemMatrix.asp?CartId={02CA1AE7-576A-40B6-9D0D-EVEREST0D9A4F813BCE}&GroupCode=FELX508&eq=&MatrixType=1
they also have Robinh Hood & Marian (i'm using this set, and they look very nice!! it may be hard to see the deatil from the pics they posted, but they're very pretty sets) romeo and juliet, and Arthur and Guinevere. also, check around the main site, they have clothing and other things that can be really helpful for a themed wedding!

Please don't bother, really. It's a sweet idea, but themes rarely work. Guests don't notice the themes unless they are slap-you-on-the-head obvious, and if they're done that over-the-top, then they're tacky. All of your suggestions are good, but don't be dissappointed that the guests won't pick up on the theme...they'll still just think your wedding is wedding-themed.

have lots of naked girls, drugs, and a really good fireworks display. Then, teach a few cats to ride bikes, and have them jump through hoops of fire. Then, have a pudding fight. Then, have a hotdog eating contest. And finally, draw pictures of sausage links.
