Okay. When you are writing about "God" you are supposed to use a capital letter. Same when you write "Him" referring to "God". I'm wondering; do atheists capitalize the words god and him when having to write something about god? Personally I don't. My English instructor once told me that I had to so it would be correct, but I told him that since I don't believe in god, then I shouldn't have to capitalize something that I don't perceive as real or important.

But many writers don't write "properly". Have you ever heard of poets like e.e. cummings? He refused to capitalize his name.

It's a personal thing, I'd say. Usually I only capitalize things when I'm making an effort or writing things to people I don't know and such. I'm not a native english-speaker, so the capitalizing of I is something I have to be mindful of everytime I write. Some people might say there's a difference between writing a god and then the God, but like I said; personal likes and dislikes is the issue here.
Another funny thing is how christians think they can just go ahead and flame away, are they unable to read properly or do they just not understand the entire thing with answering a question? I do know some sensible christians that are able to have mature discussions about faith versus atheism, but I guess it's more a european phenomenon than an american one. (Ha, ha. Your christians are dumber and more illiterate than ours. =P)

When I write about God even though I am an Atheists and I don't believe in God. I capitalize it out of respect for Christians. However I don't bother to capitalize him when referring to God I wasn't aware that I was supposed to.

Your instructor is correct,God is a proper noun and should always have a capital letter,I am Christian but I have to adhere to the rules of comprehension like everyone else and so I use a capital letter for Atheist or Devil etc.

It do not matter if you believe or not.
I'll give you an example, it is clear that I do not know you, but just because I'm talking about you I will use a capital letter if I'm writing your name, same if I'm writing any country name,it do not matter if I like that country or not, it is just a matter of respect.
So if you believe in God or not, just show some respect for the people who do believe.(show that you are an educated person).
GOD BLESS YOU!

I don't believe in Santa Claus, just like I don't believe in God. But I still capitalize. For the sake of proper writing rules.

You speel it any way you want, it will not matter in hell anyway. And i want to assure you that God will not hold you accountable for sin. Of all the millions of people he made i am sure his rules to not apply to you, you being above it all. And Jesus really died for the sins of all those other people but not you. You know because of your beng all perfect and the like. As a all knowing person such as your self already knows everything that a person could know and in your advanced age have become so wise what need would a perfected soul such as your selfs have need of a savior for. I mean you have never sinned right, never told a lie ( maybe a few white lies), never stold a thing right and never had sex outside of marriage, how about pride of self worth( that is a sin to) self worship ( that is a sin to) or self serving ( that is a sin as well).
But be of Good cheer for hell is full of people just like you those whom God could not get to lisen. So you will have some company for sure. And how so all the great men of the earth people like manson, hitler, what a crowd. And lets not forget about all these demons and satan himself. But as For jesus and God and all the saints of God. You will be forever seperated from all goodness all love all kindness all mercy and GOD for all time then you can speel it how ever you want. To bad there will be no light to read it by and no one will have time to read it.
And all that sin will not matter at the judgement, the only thing God is going to ask, is her name writen in the lambs book of life. That is the only sin that remains between people and God from the time of the cross to now.

The bible says that the Lamb of God has a book of life. The names of those who believe in Jesus Christ are written down in it. I believe that God took great care when writing our names down in the book. I'm not sure but I think our names were written in it at the foundation of the world because God sees the end from the beginning. Even those who don't believe in God, whom God knows will believe one day are written there, if I'm not mistaken. Might your name be written there?

writing god when u actually mean GOD or him when u mean HIM...doesnt actually matter at all. U will get a zero in your English Language score sheet but will be truly judged when God sees wot is n ur heart.
If you do not know Him and do not want to know Him then that is wot will displease Him at the end of the day. Not the way you write His name!
Write His name in your heart and be worried wot ink u use. CArve His name in your heart is wot matters!
