From its foundation in history, Arabs who at the time were the rulers and traders in that part of the world invaded Somalia. In the 1902's, Europeans invaded Somalia, and it became the ONLY country in Africa a European force used aerial bombing using airplanes, and it took THREE European countries to colonies the Somali territories and divide them up to three parts. The French, Italian, and British. And in the 1990's, the U.S, went there and fought militia, and ONCE AGAIN, Somalia became the ONLY country on Earth that hosted over 35,000 UN troops from 25 countries, and 24,000 US troops. It was more like a war zone, than a peacekeeping operation. I was there. And in 2006, it took another US bomber to bomb Somalia. The first AC 130 ever USED in Africa...

Stunner, unfortunately almost every nation in Africa has been attacked by powerful countries at some point in it's history.

I do agree that Somalia has suffered particularly bad in the last 15 years but the majority of that has been self inflicted by the Warlords, religious extremists and incursions by Ethiopia.

The UN force that went into Somalia in 1991 was not an invasion force it was a Peacekeeping mission. I was there as well and I would say that your assessment of a warzone is correct and I wish I had an answer as to why the job wasn't completed and Somalia returned to a stable government.
