Remember that 1 gram of oil is (about 5 -7 drops) and yields 9.1 calories i.e. same as fat. They are mostly triglycerides and that include sunflower oil or olive oil etc.

Olive oil is LESS BAD as the chains of fatty acids contain more unsaturated bonds than any other oil. In this way it is supposed to account for the less propensity to form plaques inside the arteries. But once it is heated or used for cooking it loses its unsaturated properties and its relative beneficial effects are lost.

Regarding the amount to use you can calculate it from the above informations and decide upon your need.

Good Luck.

Sunflower and olive oil both contain monounsaturated fats, which are natures 'good' fats. So are polyunsaturated fats. 4 tblspns are good.

What is not good. vegetable oil, shortening, margarine. A few good ones for cooking are canola, olive, peanut. These are all OK for your heart. It's usually better to use real butter then it is to use margarine. :)
