I wonder if it is the fear of death or actually fear of the unknown?
I think that a full Atheist would not be so afraid of dying simply because they really believe that once you are dead thats it.
Christians on the other hand believe in an afterlfe and what it takes to inherit it,a reasonable thinking Christian knows deep down that not everyone who says Lord,Lord will have eternal life in Heaven,Jesus Himself said this,so maybe the truth is that some Christians are really unsure and it makes them feel better to have a go at Atheists.

I used to be very afraid of dying. I actually had clinical panic attacks about it. Now I am saved and I do not fear death anymore. (I still fear pain and suffering of course, everyone does).
Here's what I don't get about Atheists, if they don't believe in Hell in the first place, why do they consider it a threat when someone tells them they are going there?
Second, when I tell someone that if they don't believe in Jesus Christ as God they will go to Hell, that is not a threat. I don't WANT them to go to Hell, that would be a threat. I WANT them to get saved and go to Heaven. I think that people perceive things as threats or attacks that are really, truly, not meant to be that at all.

This is a very broad question. Atheism literally means 'without god' and since most human acts of devastation have been in the name of one god or another, this would suggest that they are less harmful than people with a religion. If you think about it in a more abstract way, atheism promotes free thinking and the choice to believe what you want without the hindrance of someone telling you what is correct without any evidence. In this way, many religions actually promote ignorance over knowledge. (The reasoning behind this lays with early society humans trying to form a manageable society that functions well together. Religion is a very effective way to do this, hence why there are so many similarities between them). So depending on what you mean by harm, in early human society atheism could have been more detrimental to the progression of the human race but in recent times (the last 150 years or so) religion is losing its place in modern society.

I am SO not afraid of dying .. I believe I have an immortal soul, I believe in reincarnation and this and every life I live is for the purpose of developing greater awareness of my soul mind.
Christians are the ones who adhere to a death cult. Their whole faith is based upon the promise of eternal life, whereas I believe I am already living one.

If an atheist is not afraid of dying then he must either be very stupid or just plain weird. I mean, if you don't believe in the afterlife then you'd do all you can to preserve the one breath you have in this earth, you know.
So what do atheists live for?

I would say it is exactly the other way around. Christians are so wrapped in their cocoon of ignorance they are deadly afraid if they dare to think their fantasy boogie man Satan will jump out take a bite of their butt and pull them under they just don't know what to do. Atheists have no desire to die but they face it like anyone else.

I'm afraid of dying. I think everyone is, no matter if they're religious or not. I don't -want- to die. I want to be able to live forever with my future husband and be happy. But that wont' stop death. It's just another part of life.

How can a Christian threaten anyone? It's an individual choice. Christians are merely stating the options...Choose Him or don't, either way, you have free will to choose. What's it gonna be for you?
