Good digital cameras can be found by any brand that makes professional level cameras. Good brands include: Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Olympus. If it is price you want, try looking for some small, compact cameras. These cameras tend to have basic features (Video settings, Automatic Shooting), and have 3-7 megapixel quality, along with about 3x zoom. However, you may have to make compromise for these pocket-sized wonders. A good example would be the Sony Cybershot line. However, if it is features you want, try a super-zoom camera. These cameras have easily accesible modes, and can deliver optical zoom of up to 12x, not to mention the up to 8 megapixel quality. The one sacrifice you will make is the size of the camera, which can get to be quite large. However, the features more than overcome this. My personal pick would be the Canon powershot pro series.
Everybody has personal preferences for cameras, and you don't have to take mine (except the four brand names I mentioned). If you ever have a desire to make a career out of photography, then consider a digital SLR. these are like super zoom cameras, but with even easier-to-use features. However, an SLR is not for a beginner.
My last point to make is that you might not want to buy a Kodak Easy Share. They lack some features, and are made for convenience. If fast downloading and sharing is what you want, then they are a good choice, but otherwise not a very good choice.

There's a reason NIKON and CANON are the two top sellers in the Digital camera market. All of the others are a distant 3rd.
Check www.dpreview.com for camera reviews. If you're going the DSLR route the glass (Lenses) will be your most important purchase. Ask yourself if some of these other brands will be around in a few years. There has already been a few brand consolidations / mergers in the marketplace. Good luck!!

Bought my dauhter a camera for Christmas and she loves it FugiFilm FinePix S5200. Takes excellent 8X10's when enlarged. It's 5 megapixels, 10X optical zoom, great on batteries, was a best buy in Nov'06 Consumer Reports.1 second delay between shots and has a viewfinder which can help save on battery life. I bought it at Beach Camera ,Edison, NJ for $237 + shipping; via the internet. PS I'm just looking at 7:7pm 2/2 at all of these answers; they are all very good answers. It would really confuse me!

I have a Kodak Easyshare-I LOVE IT!!! I have the 5 megapix and 10x zoom, with the dock/printer. I used to have a HP camera, which was nice but doesn't come close to my Kodak. Besides being a much more user friendly camera, Kodak has excellent software too. It comes along with your camera, plus they offer free updates for the software occasionally. I made my Christams cards this year from free templates they offered- they were so cute! Good luck, and I recommend Kodak all the way for the price you pay.
Oh yeah, and the pictures you print are real pictures and nice ones too. And you save on batteries cuz it comes with rechargeables. My old camera really ate the batteries- I haven't had to buy any yet for my Kodak in over a year now, and about 2,000 pics later.

I would stick with Canon or Olympus. They have a good user friendly product that has unsurpassed quality. Canon provides a wide range of products for every user and price range. You can get a good product for under $200, but they have better models. They have good megapixels and shutter time. Olympus has some good mid-range models that will allow you to take some qualtiy photos. Overall, these are two very good, quality camera brands.

I like Sony Cybershot. I own a Sony DSC T7. The specs is what you want, 5MP with 3x optical. The images are pretty good. It's really slim. It's such a sad thing that it's not found in market anymore.
So, I recommend you to go for Sony.

Canon is by far the best. Kodak made great film. I can't say the same about their digital cameras. Stick with Canon, Sony, or Nikon.

The Canon SD600 is a great point and shoot. If you can't afford that, try the Canon A540 or A530.
