You may want to make an Access to Information or Privacy Act request if you want the "full meal deal." Search on the 'net for the forms (they are not the same), fill them out, and send them in. You should get some kind of reply in a month or two, but if you have a lot of records to retrieve, it could take a while to get them.

In BC, you can ask for a copy of your "Cornet" record. That's shorthand for "corrections net." It will give a quick rundown on what's happened to you and is quicker to get than the full records. There may be similar programs in other provinces. Here's the address:

Privacy, Information and Records Management Division
Ministry of Attorney General and
Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General
PO Box 9284 Stn Prov Gov
Victoria, BC
V8W 9J7

Go to the police station, fill out the forms, pay your money and you will get a copy of your criminal record. As for internal computer system records (non criminal stuff), you will have to file a freedom of information request (also at the police station, fill forms, pay money).

Go to any local police station (Canada) and request the printout. They are not free and depending why you are requesting it (job, charity other) you may have to go back and pick it up in two weeks. I waited 2 weeks for mine for a job.
