If I uninstall Nero Startsmart and all Nero stuff will it effect my CD burning capability? I have never even used Nero, it just came on my computer pre-installed. My Boyfriend says I will not be able to burn CD's if I remove it. I use I-tunes to burn CD's. He says Nero is ran through I-tunes? I laughed at him!

He's retarded, LOL!

Nero is a burning app, that's true. But Windows XP comes with burning capabilities built-in. You don't have to have a 3rd-pary app such as Nero to do it (though I usually recommend it to others).

Go to "My Computer" on your desktop or start menu and right-click your CD/DVD drive. Go to properties. You will see a "CD Recording" tab. This is living proof that Windows includes a burning option. This tab has nothing to do with Nero!

Nero is a very good software and is used to write CD's and if you want to remove it that is up to you but if you do, you have nothing to worry about. If you uninstall NERO then all you have to do to for burning CD's is copy the file you want to burn and then open My Computer, right click on the CD drive and then click on Explore but make sure that there is NO CD inserted yet, paste the file in it and then close it. Once that is over insert an empty CD and then you will be asked an option to whether you want to write your files to your CD and from there click on ok and you are done.

NO - you need a new boyfriend, try version 2.0.

It is this easy; if it is installed and you don't use it, why would it matter if you removed it - right?

If you are using iTunes for burning CDs, Nero is of no matter to you if it is removed.

no, your boyfriend is completely wrong. you were right to laugh! you need not Nero to burn cd's and i-tunes has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with nero. be sure you hold this over his head for all eternity.

I suspect you boyfriend is right. Take heed of what he says, unless you've developped such a hatred for Nero that it will make you laugh even when you can no longer burn your CD's.

Good luck
