Forget the suggestion to use Zip drives, LOL! They have gone the way of the dodo.
Instead, pick one of these:
- DVD burner (you can use 4.7GB or 8.5GB discs)
- If your existing hard drive has a lot of free space, you can use a program like "Partition Magic" to resize your C: drive. You can split it into two partitions (C: and D:), which gives you the option of moving your music off of C: onto D: at high speeds. Then you format C: and reinstall Windows which won't touch the D: drive.

If you have to reinstall windows it must be a huge problem. Are you able to boto to your desktop to use a CD-Burner?
A ZIP drive is pretty cheap, but here in Pennsylvania a pack of 5 ZIP (100MB) disks cost around $40 which in total holds less infomation than a CD-Recordable. I would use a CD Burner to make a Music-Data disk.
Also, you could try posting the problem you are having with your PC. There might be an easy fix to your troubles. We are here to help :)

All you need to do is transfer your music onto a portable device like a zip-drive, CD, or DVD. If you do not have a CD-burner, go with the zip-drive which can be purchased at any local computer retail store near you.

u must have partitions on the basic drive such as c,d and e. if the system files are on c, then transfer all ur music and stuff to the other two drives. now format c and after reinstalling windows, shift the data from d to e or vice-versa. now format this drive. after that again transfer all ur data to that drive which u formatted and then format the last drive. in this way, ur whole harddisk will have been formatted. good luck.

Try burning it onto back up CD discs. If you have Itunes they have a backup prompt under file. You can also by an external hard drive and back up your entire laptop. Alas, you can also move all of your music into a folder( or multiple folders) Zip them and send them to yourself. Google offers free email, and their inboxes have a good amount of space. Hope this helps & Good Luck.

if you are able to log into windows, then you con either burn the music to a CD/DVD or move them to a 2ND PC connected thru a local area network.
if not ,try booting from the windows CD and using the "repair" option, instead of doing a full reinstall. When you get past the EULA (just after you press f8) , when you your installation listed , highlight it and press r , to repair. this will fix your windows installation, without deleting your personal files.
