But the soldiers who are actually fighting this war overwhelmingly approve of the mission and want to stay until the job is complete. Do the people who are not in Iraq know more than the ones who are?

Not all soldiers are for the war but they are for finishing this mission successfully and coming home.

We do know more about what is going on here than you guys just because we aren't affected by the media the way you guys are.

By watching the media, I'm sure you think that Iraq is in absolute turmoil and that it's on the very verge of collapse. That's not true, at all. When you see, "A car bomb went off in Baghdad", you have to first understan how big Baghdad is and just where it went off. Most of them happen in a small area. I live in Western Baghdad just off the International Airport and we have very few instances of violence. When we got here, it was like the Wild, Wild West, but over time, we have been able to work with the people, run many of the bad guys off, get the governing bodies in the lead and retake the neighborhoods back for the Iraqi people.

Regardless of whether you are for the war or against the war, the one thing we all want is peace. You don't get peace by pulling out, you get peace by winning. Both sides come to the table, end the shooting and bombing, learn to live together, and we come home.

All it takes for us to come home is for the Militias and the insurgetns to quit killing innocent Iraqis, each other , and threatening the government.

Actually the war on Iraq has turned into a political game between the democrats and the republicans. Your right the soldiers there do know more about what's going on then we do! That's why I said it should go into a ballot vote exclusively for the soldiers not anyone else. Rather you go or stay! IF there should be a time limit. After all it's your lives that are on the line!
All voting would be private! The results ballots to be counted by both the vice president and the speaker of the house!

My cousin is with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was supposed to be home from the theater of Iraq for a year before redeployment, but now with the "surge" he will go back after 3 months.
He says we are doing no good there and that troops are stretched thinly and although there are combat successes occaisionally, that the IED (bombs) and guerilla-style attacks are unstoppable through combat.
The soldiers you see on the news are active-duty troops whose orders forbid any public airing of negative opinions about the operation.
There is a growing number of disabled and discharged troops who are actively protesting this conflict and its strategy. You can buy their DVD, The Ground Truth, at Best Buy and check out what they have to say.
As far as supporting the troops, I followed my cousin's advice and have been giving groceries to my local food pantry because that is where many soldiers' families get enough to eat, making up for the low pay of enlisted men/women. I suggest that we all do this to support these people who, whether you agree or disagree with this conflict, are doing their duty honorably as they promised for the country.

Most of those that want us to pull out are going off of what they hear "reported" on the news, they have not looked for the information themselves. The sad reality is if we pull out Iran (who has been training up its army for the last few months) will fill the gap we leave behind, either by force or decoyed as a friend. Then we will be forced into a larger conflict, if for no other reason then oil reserves.
Two of my coworkers are currently deployed, one chose to go and wants to be there and the other is glad to do what he has been training to do, however would rather be home. Truth is that is what soldiers do, train for war and fight. they want to win and at this time its going to be hard to see a clear win any where in the near future. Bush is doing just what he promised, fight the terrorist on there ground and not in the states. Whether your a bush fan or not you have to respect is thinking in that cause that is Just what is happening.

Not all soldiers in Iraq want to be there.
Not all soldiers in Iraq approve of it.
NOt all soldiers in Iraq like to be there at all.

We have no clue as to how many maimed troops really thre are. Figures never are published right.

That war in Iraq is no longer for American troops to handle. But soembody started it and now they have to finish something. The problem is that in Iraq and those places , is not soon that all those horrible nightmares going on and murders are going to stop.
They are fanatic religious people who are full of hate (I am talking of the extremists) and willnot end any war until some supernatural power stops it.
Read REvelation in the Bible.

It is not our war to begin with. But there somebody sent all the troops to search for weapons of mass destruction and now they have none of that and the whole place got even worse off de-stablezed.

Do you read the daily yahoo news? daily killings of troops and innocents.
If you want chaos in a country the way to do it for politicans is to divide the coutnry.
Sectarian violence is that. Uncontrolled religious fanatics with different ideologies and not ready or willing to make peace.
Though democracy works in some countries, in others that are so extreme like Iraq, it doenst work because they donot have the mentality, religion that calls for peace.
Yugoslavia was peaceful with Joseph Bros tito
a former dictator who kept all the different sects at peace because he made it clear, no violence or...
He set the model for a lot of recognition (look it up JOSEPH BROS TITO). He died and the whole country went to potts. Sectarian violence you alreasy saw what happened. Massive killings. Ethnic cleansing. and waht not.

We should foster peace not war.

The job was to get rid of WMD's.Not to rebuild Iraq nor destroy its infrastructure, The mission many talk about is only an excuse to stay and pump the oil of Iraq. possible make Iraq another territory but I doubt it will work,it did not work in Iran, if you remember the Sha.Yes the people here in America knows Bush lied about the reasoning to invade iraq , Iraq had no ties to 911 here

Iraq had no WMD's, Iraq was under control, however, what we have now is the work of evil. The majority of American people knew Vietnam was wrong and know Iraq is wrong. Obviously, as longest the ones killed are not Bush's kids , killing marines is okey for Bush.

There are not that many people against the war, they just get more TV time is all. I believe anyone that can...should read the following link because it explains what is happening and what the USA is up against. It is going to be a long fight.

Well, I know one thing is for sure... the guys actually doing the work in Iraq want to come back in right when they get there. War is just an excuse and silly way to solve an argument.

Your answer is false, not all the troops either approve of the war or the manner in which it is being run. The mission has changed so many times, its impossible to think everyone agrees, so take your propaganda back to the sand box.
