Apple butter is a paste from apple puree. Just use apple sauce that has been reduced to get some of the water out of it.

no. Applebutter is like jam. If you want to make a cookie recipe low cal subsitute the Splenda for baking (or 1/2 splenda 1/2 sugar) for the sugar and use a low cal margarine. They won't taste as good as the real sugar and real butter but they will be lower calorie. The taste will be OK but I am a food snob.

Personally I avoid using artifical sweeteners for anthing that is heated unless the sweeteners is added after the cooking process. Things tend to have an aftertaste when the artificial sweetener is heated.

Apple butter doesn't contain any of the same properties as dairy butter. You will probably not get a good result.

Applebutter and applesauce can be used interchangeably, but I don't think you can substitute it for butter. Use a low fat margarine instead.

Hope it works !

apple butter and butter cannot be used interchangebly cuz apple butter is runny....butter is used to make the produc creamy and it helps the dough stick together. apple butter is sweeter and suger burns quickly in an oven
