The whole process from video , film, digital... is truly amazing... and is one of the best inventions ever.... but not the only one nor the most important one.

Not is it the best ever for we still have some future left for a cure for cancer and other great things....

It is amazing though isn't it?

Though cameras are of course very important to the development of human culture they are not the most important inventions of man.

Historians place two main inventions in human history as the most important. In early human history the invention of the animal pulled agricultural plow allowed farmers the ability to grow more food than would be consumed by one family. This allowed for the development of commerce, regional trade and resulted in the organization of communities. Thus the first cities were formed.

In more modern history the first true great mechanised invention was the clock. The basic engineering concept of the clock paved the way for all motors, mechanised production of goods and even the computer. In fact, the clock is the first computer ever invented. The modern mechanical camera is a direct line invention in concept that grew out of clock gearing.

Nothing on Earth can catch time, photography only "freezes" (and still this is not a good wording) an instant. But time ! Time is the perpetual continuum and therefor you can compare it to nothingness (like in:what are the limits of nothingness, maybe your next question?)

Not really. And really, they don't catch time, as cool as that would be. They catch the reflection of some light and basically embed that light into a special screen.
I mean, I love photography, but you've got the combustible engine, the microchip, the internet... etc..
