They are not inexpensive. A "pet quality" from a reputable breeder can be $2500-3500.

My suggestion if you are really set on getting one would be to try local shelters, Petfinder, or the Frenchie rescue groups. Be aware that they can have some health issues and do not tolerate heat well.

More information about Frenchies is available on the French Bulldog Club of America website and they have breeder and rescue referrals too. Do not be tempted by a "bargain" dog from a puppymill or unscrupulous breeder.

You get what you pay for. It's best to find a responsible breeders who does genetic health testing on mating pairs and pay more for a healthy pup than it is paying a less for a pup that may develop genetic health problems later in life. Frenchies-even from back yard breeders- are expensive. It does depend on what area you are shopping. The least expensive I found when I was looking last year was $950 and this was from untested parents. I passed since I do know Frenchies do have some genetic weaknesses. Please save yourself some heartache and purchase from a responsible breeder. Keep on saving up for the right pup. Good luck!

more than a mutt, and they have a great tendency toward health problems which can cost you a lot over time. if you just want a pet, why not go to the pound for a one of a kind pound puppy :)

Location...Region...Location. Additionally, if you need a puppy from a legitimate breeder they could also be extra price. However safer bet that getting it from a cheap dog mill/pet shop. B/c you realize the dog might be healthful and excellent and completely satisfied puppy

Frenchies are born by C-section and have very small litters, so they are not cheap.

They also are known for health problems, so it is better to spend more and get one from a good breeder who health tests her stock.
