Do the online IQ tests really work?

If so which of the free ones is the best?
Someone who knows what they're talking about please.

No. Online IQ tests are fun, but they don't give any information about your actual IQ. I've taken online tests that gave scores as much as 20 points higher than my actual score (documented by a psychologist), whereas my scores on two different actual IQ tests that were taken over a decade appart were less than 5 points different. I've even seen online tests that claim that the average score of people who take their test is around 115, when by definition the average score should be exactly 100 if the test is valid.

I haven't really seen the on line IQ test, to me that is just something that they put on line so you can take it and then have your friends take it. It is like pulling you into there site. Usaully you take a IQ test when you first start school, and a lot of phys wards give them too later on when you end up in an hospital, they want to know what they are dealing with, and how smart the person is, cause sometimes, they really have a hard time with certain people cause they are too smart, and can fugure out what they are doing to them for treatment. They like to catch you when you are young in school, so if your IQ is high enough that they would like the parents of the child to let them go to a special school to keep the iq up there, and even rasise it higher, so i really would not bet much on the ones they may have on line, but if you find one that is real, i would really be intersted in knowing about it, so i could check it out.

Not really. A lot of these sites give people higher scores than normal so that they'll purchase a certificate from them.
