All these diets, ie. Weight Watchers, etc. allow the dieter to eat as many fruits and veggies as posisible. Aren't fruits full of sugar and carbohydrates? Isn't this contrary to what you are not meant to eat? Why are the sugars in fruits any better than those obtained from artificial sources?

That's not strictly true, for example peas have a high fat content, and you can't eat as many as you want.
Yes, some vegetables are very low in fattening elements, but all vegetables are different, and certainly weight-watchers don't allow you to eat as much as you like of all vegetables

OK....this is easy. Yes fruits contain much sugar and carbs. But the sugar is natural, or processed. These are called complex carbohydrates. Complex mean the body has to break them down to use them. This is how glucose, another sugar, is produced in for the body. Glucose is the most efficient fuel you body can use and the only fuel your brain uses. Vegetables are also complex carbohydrates but very little natural sugars. Both also contain fiber, which helps the body eliminate waste. These carbs and sugars have nutritional value to the body. Processed sugar, white sugar, is called a simple carbohydrate. The body does not have to break it down and it contains no nutritional value, only calories. This is due to the way the sugar is taken from it's natural sourced and processed into the new form. These are called empty calories. That is the difference. I hoped that helps
