the percing of your tongue makes no odds to the condition of your teeth in respect of infection, if you have bad teeth then provided you keep your tongue clean after peiercing then you should have no problems but its afterwards that you may come a croper as you begin to play with it and will at some point bite the balls and ruin your teeth more. you can have your tongue pierced with a bar and this will allow you to get it to heal before you hurt your teeth. with this in mind you can have your tongue pierced on the surface aswell which leaves less room for flicking and there are no balls on the underside of the tongue. this has been knows to reduce damage and chances of damage.

I have my tongue pierced and i had no probs for the last 8 years. however i did recently manage to slightly chip a tooth by biting down on the bar but that was my own fault lol i was distracted. the only way i would say it was a bad idea was if u suffer from a condition that causes weak teeth and makes u more prone to chipping and breakage. otherwise i say go for it. i would still advise u to see a dentist about the chips u already got and i should stress that oral hygiene is very important with a tongue piercing. but as long as u use mouthwash during the healing phase (and beyond if u can) u should be fine. my tongue has actually been pierced three times coz i took it out for work and it closed up and then i changed my image so i took it out and then i changed back to my usual me lol and put it back in lol but as i say. no probs for me and i think u should go for it. tongue studs are great fun for oral sex and great for shocking little old ladies jk! as for the ppl who consider it mutilation, or out of fashion, WISE UP! its no more mutilation that ear piercing. its adornment. but at least tongue piercing has a practical use. (ie oral sex) what use is an ear piercing other than adornment??? and if ur doing something only for fashions sake ur sad and need to get enuf self esteem to do something for urself and not just coz everybody else is doing it! nuff said lol =0Ã

Fix your teeth 1st.This is the 1st thing people look at when they talk to you.You may get a piercing to take away from the teeth but ,You will feel so much better when you go see the dentist 1st.I hope you will take my advice believe me I just got mine done. You won't believe the difference it will have on your life.Fix the teeth first,Then go where ever you want,And change what ever.Your friend.

Having your tongue pierced is already risky with healthy teeth. It depends on your tooth structure but you might damage your teeth, either in an accident or in the long run. My friend is a dentist - and not per se anti-piercing - but she says that she deals with alot of people who damaged their teeths with lips- and tongue piercings.

I would focus on spending money on fixing your teeth before spending the money to get your tongue pierced. If money is a problem do them both, back to back, but in that order. Hygiene should be your first priority, not creating more holes in your face.

I would ask your dentist. As he would know best. Personally I say that it might cause discomfort or even pain, yes. I don't have my tongue pierced & I would never get it pierced. But that may just be me.
I know someone who got theirs pierced & it got very infected & inflammed.

It is not, in my opinion, okay to get your tongue pierced with or out teeth, broken or not! Go and get your teeth fixed and forget about mutilating your mouth or any other part of your body.

How about you use the money you were going to spend on the piercing to put your teeth right and then have your tounge pierced?

Its just my own view, but I think tongues with studs are repulsive. I would never go out with anyone who had them. I know its just fashion, but YUCK. As for your question, the best person to ask would be your dentist.

It shouldn't be a problem, I had mine done 5-6 years ago, I took it out after a while tho, as I cracked a tooth in half when I was eating, resulting in an expensive trip to the dentist!
