I've talked with a couple of ophthalmologists who have said they say 2 weeks just so you buy more, and that each pair can actually last 6 months or more. (Assuming perfect care and cleaning.) What are your experiences, and what have docs/vendors told you?

Yes!, with a factor of safety, these lenses are ONLY two week lenses. While physical comfort & vision may stay good for long, we lose on:
1) Oxygen permeability
2) Increased lens-lid interaction
3) More deposits
4) More prone to brewing infections

The best care can NOT avoid these ageing and usage changes.
Doctors recommending 6 month use of these lenses can go through current medical literature or attend a recent conference.
PLEASE DO NOT OVERUSE your lenses.

Well, I buy the 1 week lenses and wear them for a month without a problem.

Perfect cleaning is, of course, impossible. They do get icky after awhile.

my eye doctor told me that i can wear them for a month if i take them out and clean them every night. i've tried wearing them longer, but you can tell it's time to throw them away. they get kinda blurry and quite uncomfortable to wear.
