No, not at all. Good food, good people, what could be better.

I know for a fact I wouldn't, coming from a family of 5 kids my mom was not the domestic type so we ate off paper plates as far back as I can remember. Also with the family Sunday dinners (aunts, uncles, cousins) who could afford to buy that many matching sets to feel a group that size lmao

As long as the company is good and the meal is equally good, and the plates are clean, then it should not matter if the plates did not match. At lest the host/hostess is kind enough to hold a dinner party, and we/you have being lucky enough to score a invite.

It is so popular now to not match plates! I now have china plates that do not match that I got at a place that is like a Goodwill and my fiance asked me if it was OK, and if you look at any home magazine today they all say this is great.
It is the company you keep that counts-not the matching dinner plates!

No reason to judge. Not everyone owns a great set of china. If yo've been invited to a dinner party, just ebjoy it and don't worry about the plates.

No, maybe she isn't particular about that sort of thing. She might collect different patterns of plates she likes. I have seen that in women's magazines.
If that is the case everyone could be eating on very expensive plates.
I collect flow blue plates. One of my favorites, cost 85.00, 20 years ago. It's probably worth much more now.
Mine are for display only but if I had many guests, I would use them in a pinch.

Judge? NO WAY! Ate least I would have a plate to eat out of. It don't matter if it matches or not, as long as everyone has a plate, a cup, a fork, a knife, a spoon. and a napkin!
Cheers :-)

I'd only think it was a bit weird if it were a very formal event and everything else matched perfectly.... then I'd still not 'judge' them but it would make me wonder... perhaps they let a stack of them drop just an hour before dinner so they couldn't replace them!

No. I would assume that they were decorating with an eclectic style. Also, if there are more than 8 people, it is almost to be expected. Unless they are rolling in the dough, few people have service for 16 or 24.

Abosulutely not, first off the person was gracious enough to have enjoy a meal with them etc. that person put a lot of work to get the meal together etc.. Maybe they don't have a lot of money to sport the fine dinnerware. I guess for all those people that said yes, would you then Judge God if he had you to his home and didn't have the fine dinnerware!!!!! He invites everyone in his home every Sunday. I would like to see all of you that said yes to explain yourself out of that one!

well, that really depends on how formal the dinner is. Personally, I wouldn't if its just a casual dinner. But if it was for something big, like inviting your boss to dine, I would try to have a matching set.
