Peace!
He had to accept the will of the Father to prove there is life after death. There is resurrection after this life. If he flew away or avoided the cross, which he said he could do, he would not have been able to accomplish his mission. Come to think of it. He could also fly. That's what he did when he went up to heaven.
It is not just to reconcile humanity with his Father that he came to us. God also wanted to prove to humanity that God exists.
And by the way, Jesus is a historical character. Not a mythical figure as someone answered.
Have a nice day

I don't know if you were asking a question or making a remark. The Bible says you will be responsible for any careless remark you make. First know that the coming of Jesus was prophesied long ago before he came remember Isiah did then came John the baptist. Were it not for your sarcasm you would have realized that before he was arrested he said the hour for the son of man to be scarified has come. And that he told the disciples that one of them will betray him which happened. Remember when he was arrested Peter chopped one of the Guys ear and he returned it. To be short Jesus mission to earth was to be scarified in order to save the mankind had it been any other way nobody could have touched him he even said that their is a whole army in heaven which he could call upon to his aid if he wanted war with his accusers. For the prophesy to come to pass he had to go on the cross.

Isn't that interesting? Do you know when Jesus hung on the cross, dying a horribly painful death to redeem you, by the way....the Jewish "religious" leaders were hurling the same sort of insults at Him?
"He healed others", they said, "but cannot save Himself! Come down from the cross, and then we'll believe".
He bled, and died, to pay for you sins. Including the one of mocking Him, as you have done tonight.

boy you are obviously not very smart. In the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all is explained as to why Jesus came. The book of Isaih in the old testiment also predicts his birth and death. Maybe you should read your Bible a little more often. As for magic, there is no such thing. It's all what is called an illusion.

Shedding His blood to pay the debt for our sins was His whole purpose in coming. He could have at any time escaped the pain of the cross, but He chose not to so that sinful man could be reconciled to God. Dying on the cross was an act of love on our behalf.

It's a stupid question, but the answer is: He was doing the will of His Father in Heaven. He was sent by God the Father to die on the cross for the sins of His people - His 'elect' or 'chosen'. If He 'flew away', as you put it, He would be disobeying His heavenly Father, but of course, there is no sin in Him. Christ was born without sin and so, He cannot disobey His heavenly Father, but fulfilled the will of God.
John 4:34 - Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Christ was sent to save man from sin. He understood the price he was going to pay for such a mission - although it was not his choice to be sacrificed. Christ did have the guidance of God the father but was eventually forsaken once he fully took on the sin of mankind. Christ called out to God the father and asked why he was forsaken.
Christ was tempted by the devil several times and you should be able to locate the scriptures which teach on this so you can gain a deeper understanding of Christ's train of thought.

That was his very purpose. To die for our sins and make a way to God.
Mat 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
He was a human-- he had every right to fear his death and plead for his life. In the same way he was God, and he knew what he had to do. As a bonus, he wanted to do it cos he loves us!
