Well, Julie, to work out percentages on a calculator you have a pretty straight forward process to do. I say 'pretty' because there is just 1 thing to work on remembering. When you enter in the percent number that you need, just put a decimal in front of it. So, when entering that you are looking for 10%, just enter.10 ~~ 20 % is .20 and onward like that.

Remember to enter 2 digits after you enter the dot . . So needing 9% is entered as .09 {Rule of Thumb: If your percent needed is under 10 , then all you do is to put a 0 in front as well as the . . } Just another example where you add the 0 is ....needing to know ...say...4%...it is entered as .04.

OK Julie, that is the only hard thing to percentages on a calculator. Entering your percent needed with a . in front, or both a 0 and a . if your number is only 1 digit{under 10}.

Here is the format for entry on ~~

What is 10% of 200? ~~ 200 x .10 = 20
What is 1% of 200? ~~ 200 x .01 = 2

Good luck Julie, I think you will get along just fine.

You can use the % sign as suggested or you can multiply the numbers and then move the decimals which I find easier. I guess it is a matter of choice.
