Heres the problem- I crack my knuckles 24-7, even 5 minutes after i crack them! If they dont make a sound or wont crack, I crack them so hard that sometimes it hurts bad! My knucles are a tad bit wider than the rest of my finger, but maybe its supposed to be like that. I dont know... but how do I stop cracking my knuckles? I used to only crack them when I was nervous or lying, but now it is ALL the TiME! I cant stop!!! Also, I have another habit: you know on the sides of your nails where hangnails form? Well aLL the TIMe I pick at that crack area with my other fingernails and thats why i have no cuticles. Ipick at them until they sting and the skin peels off i just cant help it!! can you? please i need real anwers real quick thanks bye! =]

You used to do it only when you were nervous -- are you sure you're not more and more nervous than you were before? Compulsive habits like that are a sign of nervousness or worry. Ask yourself why you're nervous and find alternative ways of dealing with your stress. I do a reboot, meaning I restart my mind (like you would a computer). Stop the train of worrisome thinking, take a few deep breaths, and then look at the problem/situation at hand with a new, calmer perspective. Take back control of your thoughts, don't let yourself get swept away on the worry train, and I'm sure you'll feel better soon and not feel the need to crack your knuckles constantly or resort to any other sort of nervous habit ;)

You may have a condition that is similar to Trichotillomania- where people constantly pull out their own hair. It is a compulsive behavior. You should probably see a doctor about it before you ruin your hands for life.
