I think he gets too much attention for a driver that wins about one race a year. Let's face it, if his name wasn't Dale Earnhardt he'd just be another Brian Wickers or Casey Mears. Anyone that doesn't agree with that, then why isn't his brother Kerry in the lime light?
What really gets me, Jr. is not a handsome guy yet women vote him the sexiest driver. My wife is a beautiful woman and she said she doesn't see what all the hype is about. I agree.

I'm a Dale Jr fan and I do believe that the media does have times when it gives Dale Jr too much attention. For example...Dale Jr could spit a piece of gum on the ground and we'd probably hear about it. The thing about it is that Dale Jr has said time and time again that he doesn't like all of the attention and that he only wants the attention when he has a great race, wins, etc. Other than that he is a really quiet guy who tries hard to stay out of the spotlight.
A lot of people are quick to say that he gets the attention because of his father and the thing about that is that you cannot help who your parents are. Dale Jr cannot change anything that his father accomplished. His father is Dale Earnhardt Sr BUT Dale Jr did not ask to be born!
Dale Jr is not the only driver who gets a lot of attention...look at drivers such as Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, Richard Petty, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne just to name a few.
Dale Jr cannot stop the media from talking about him. All he does is he gets in his car and races his heart out. What more do some of ya'll want from the man? Even if he were to leave Nascar now...the sports media would still talk about him.

Ok first thing is first I am a Gordon fan (just so you dont think I am a Jr die hard fan when you read this)
So you think he gets too much exposure? Jr fans probably think the same about Jeff... But think about it... Honestly there are probably just a handful of drivers that can be noticed to everyone. You have Jeff, Jr, Tony, Martin, Johnson, Kenseth, Biffle... I may be stretching for the last two, and I may have just left someone out totally... But what do you want Nascar to do?
Jr, and Jeff, and Tony are the 3 biggest nascar icons... They will receive a majority of the exposure... Do you want nascar to start promoting Scott Riggs? Do you want them to promote A.J. Allmendinger? Juan Pablo Montoya? David Reutimann? Regan Smith? Robby Gordon? I mean the list goes on and on, of just average drivers...
If Jr did not get as much exposure, then Jeff would get more and Tony would get more also... I think Nascar is just using what they have to promote the sport in the best way possible. They have to put a familiar name on the TV to draw people in...
Look at it this way... Tiger Woods... Do you think he gets too much exposure? Its just because he is the biggest golf name out there, and they use that to draw people in.
Jr is a good driver, and has the popular last name, and has about 50% of the fan base... I think its just good business that Nascar is practicing making sure his face is viewable to the public... I also think it depends on what your watching (assuming this is TV related) If you watch Speed Race day, they talk about all the drivers and do a great job... Then when NBC takes over they always keep an eye on the leader (whoever that is), anyone coming up through the field, Jr, Jeff, Tony, Harvick, and whoever is up in points... I think its just a marketing thing... nothing to really get upset about...

I am not a Dale Jr Fan, but he is the most popular driver. That's why he gets so much exposure. Believe I agree it gets kind of old, but I can see why they do it.

Jr is an amazing driver! He deserves every bit of publicity he gets! People like you can't handle the fact that he's a good driver and a good guy. It's not his fault his dad was who he was. You apparently don't know a thing about Jr because his dad made him work for every bit of knowledge he has today. Instead of running your mouth, why don't you go pick up a copy of his book and learn something about him! Go #8!!!!!

Absolutely. He's a fair driver, but a pale imitation of his father. He'll be lucky to win one Nextel Cup, never mind seven.
Remember that race at Daytona after Dale Sr. died? I don't care what all the other drivers said, They all got out of the way and let Junior win that race. It was perfect cheap American theater.

I have always felt that way. There is too much comparison between he and Dale Sr. who was the greatest.
Jr. gets away with too much rule-breaking anyway and I don't like his attitude.

you got to admit though, that he and his management are marketing geniuses. I am personally a fan, probably living in a false sense that maybe just maybe one of these years he may just live up to the name. Heres to hoping.
