Jennifer,

You want a combination of exercises, targeting different muscle groups and requiring different level of effort.

Here are some ideas:

- Walking - always a good choice, move to jogging when you feel comfortable

- Push-ups - start with push-ups on your knees and move to full push-ups later

- Crunches - these are good for abs, just lift your shoulders off the ground and keep a rhythym

- Jump rope - great for calf muscles

- Stretching - slow constant motion, no bobing - a good stretching routine will leave you soaked - remember to breathe

- Balance drills - lift one foot, work on staying in one place, gradually lift the leg higher until it is waiste level, then work on staightening it out - remember to keep you other knee bent

Those are some simple, no cost things you can do. Don't expect immediate results and start slow, a couple of days a week, then 3 then 4 then move on from there. Also, when doing jump rope or push-ups or crunches, count in small numbers. I use sets of 4. It lets me do 40 reps by counting to 10 - 1, 2, 3 -1; 1, 2, 3 - 2; 1, 2, 3, -3; etc. This helps fool the mind.

Good luck.

The best simple exercise is WALKING.

If you want to get into the martial arts, my first suggestion would be Tai Chi.

Losing weight is simply burning off more calories than you consume, so you might want to consider cutting down on either your total food intake or just your high calorie foods & beverages.
