My cat Jimmy was the same way when I first got him. He tore up my walls, couch, and rugs. So I got him some scratching post and that didn't work to good so me and my husband built him a kitty condo and wrapped the legs of it with a rope called sisal. It worked wonders. He stopped scratching up all my stuff and he loves it. He didn't really like the cat nip very well, some cats are just funny about that kind of stuff. But look into getting her a kitty condo. It is your best bet and keep her nails clipped. That helps alot as well. There is also a spray that you can buy to keep cats away from certain areas of your home. You can buy it at a pet store. Good luck and I hope this helps.

You can de-claw your cat. But, that is pretty cruel. However, it is an option. I know what you mean! It is really annoying, but you can buy stuff to put on your furniture. I think it is called Bitter Apple or something like that. Check out Pet Smart or Petco, and ask a person that works there. There are sprays for your furniture for this situation. Also, another option is getting a water spray bottle, and spray your cat every time she is clawing.

Scratching posts are the best but you can get claw caps that are glued onto their claws that work great. Be prepared for the cat pulling them off in the beginning but just keep replacing them until the cat gets used to it.
Please do not declaw your cat, it is very painful and will change your cats personality. As well as cause other bad behaviors like biting or not using the litter box.

She is putting her scent on everything to mark her territory. Even if you don't have other cats. Tin foil on every place she picks for about 2 weeks to a month.IT may look bad in your house for a little while but when you take them off, she still won't pick.
Feliway from petco and petsmart works
softpaws.com work too and can be put on by you or vet for about $12.
spray bottle with water in it when you see her in action works too and won't hurt her.
Cats are particular and this one might like the feel of a towel in a box over super soft bed. I had to try a few things for each of my cats.

There are sprays that work very well, also there are covers that can placed over your cat's claws. They provide a humane way of dealing with a pet's tendencies.

De-claw the cat. Or you get scratch-proof furniture or carpet.
