Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges Obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her Obesity surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

Hey there, I know what you are going through. I have had two back surgeries since I was 19 (I am now 23). I hurt my back at work and will continue to have back surgeries until I am old enough to get it fused. I am on my way to a third coming up pretty soon.

I am not sure if you have to have surgery because of weight problems, but there is no cure all for weight loss except for hard work. A magic pill won't help anything, believe me, I've tried. I tried weight watchers for a while and there are a lot of people at the meetings that have health related problems to their weight gain. That might be a good place to start, and you might end up having a whole network of people to support you through this.

Right now, I am on the Slim Fast plan. It is a lot different than it used to be, and they help you plan meals and everything for you. I thought that the shakes would be horrid, but they aren't too bad and neither are the meal bars. If you go to www.slimfast.com, you will find all the resources you need there.

Have you talked to a doctor about started a diet and exercise regimen? Maybe your neurosurgeon will be able to help you come up with the best fit plan for you. I wish you the best of luck and hang in there! Things will work out for the best.

I am sure there are a lot of Dr's. that could help you with natural products There is a doctor who definately has helped a lot of people with several ailments myself included, and has a great regime of getting our bodies into shape. Have you thought of getting a second opinion or with chiropracters.Sometimes when we lose weight we do not have to have surgery. The back is the body part that really gets attacked when we are overweight. Imagine if you can if you are 20 pounds overweight, packing around a 20 pound sack of potatoes all the time. I would sooner pay for health rather then sickness, and before I would have a back surgery I would try other means. You did not get the way you are overnight so do not expect a quick fix.
I pray that you will give this some thought If you want to know more email me.

Just watch your intake on carbs and sugars and trans fatty foods.I'm watching my weight for my surgery I need and I skip breakfast and drink a slim fast shake and when I'm not working I exercise on a machine that's like a tread climber but mine isn't a Nordi-Trak and ride this thing sometimes 2-3 times a day and I drink lots a water. Now my husband gets home late from work and I also drink a Slim Fast after or before dinner then I go to sleep after a hot shower. I walk and I drink Orange Juice in the morn. and clean house......bright & early. Slim Fast is about 5.00 and some tax @ Wal-Mart. Thats all it cost here 4 me here in Florida, but u should try it.......and drink lots of water. U will lose the weight and others will notice it 2 so don't give up u can do this cause I already am.when others notice it's motivation to keep it up.

Probably because your back problems will not get better, even with surgery, if you are overweight. Being overweight puts very serious stress on your back. PLEASE forget about weight loss pills- the best and fastest way to lose weight is by diet and exercise. Walking, or any kind of low-impact cardiovascular exercise like a recumbent bike (I know someone who used one of these who had back surgery) is good to burn calories, but the less you are allowed to exercise, the less calories you can eat in order to lose weight. A good practice to get into is to WRITE DOWN what you eat every day, in a food journal. You get to a point where you do not want to write down bad things, so you will not eat them. This can also help you identify where your weaknesses are, (late night eating? Too much starch? etc.) Add more fruit and vegetables (raw!) to your diet as well. Drink a ton of water! This will flush out toxins, excess salt and fat, and will also slake thirst which our bodies sometimes mistake for hunger! Good luck and hope this helped!

I can imagine your situation of desperation.
One thing I know that will work for any one wanting to lose weight is to increase their intake of fiber. See for most persons that are overweight they consume a lot of refine foods which may also be high in fat. What I would recommend would be for you to
1. continue your prescribed excerise program
2. increase your intake of insoluble fibers. Foods rich in such includes yourraw fruits, vegetables (not ovrecooked) Quaker oats, peas and beans.
Fibers slow down the digestion of fats and also bind cholesteral
3. cut back onyour rrefine sugars - wheat products are healtheir than bleached products
4 eat at regular times in smaller amots.
5. inbetween meal consume a lot of water this will keep you full plus help to suppress your appetitite and it will also serve to flush your system of toxic substances as the fat breaks down within your body
6. If you do eat meat eat in moderation

All the best on your quest to lose weight

i really don't know, i got 2 extra kg after christmass and i still can't shed one, and i go to gym and work like crazy for 2 hours every day and do not eat anything i shouldn't. but i was watching this dr. Phill programme a few days ago, people like 100 kg overweight were losing weight and looking good. or maybe it was a lie. but anyway, there is his book "weight loss solution" or smth like this, lots of people wrote to him that his book helped them to lose weight. u might try, even if u don't live in usa, his book is all around the world, or u can download it from internet www.drphil.com. good luck

it's great to see that you indeed need, want and desire to help yourself.

i'm not sure if it's valid but do you remember the commercials about the guy who ate at sub-way to lose weight? i'd say that would be the result of a drastic change in diet. but keep in mind that a quick fix will undo its self just as quickly once it's discontinued. it takes your body a year to recognize and adjust to changed habits.

when it comes to exercise i would suggest swimming be included into your regimen. if not swimming, then exercises done in water are pretty effective too.

i hope you get something from my suggestions and i sooooooooo wish you well. happy landings.

i dont know how much extra weight you need to lose but if you need to have your back surgery soon, consider liposuction to help you get to where you need to be. im not a doctor but i understand how much back problems can interfere with your life in every aspect. Ask your doc what he thinks about it, he might say its a good idea. i dont know what lipo costs these days but i hear its a quick procedure and usually gets about 20 pounds off of ya. just my thoughts. good luck.

back surgery which may involve the spinal cord could be very dangerous, you will be prone to infection one's opened for a long time. with a lot of weight there will be several layers of adipose tissue (fats) that the doctor has to go through before he/she reaches your main back for surgery and you will be opened for a very long time. the doctor just wants to minimize and avoid you having infection especially not on the back or near the spinal cord because it can be very dangerous to be infected there, it could easily reach your brain via your spinal cord. with less fat, the doctors could open you the shortest time possible minimizing contamination. im afraid you'll have to just be patient before having that surgery and lose the weight your doc told you to work on. God bless you and your kids.
