I've been in a bad living situation with my mother since she gained custody of me. She gained custody of me when her mom died. my grandma had custody of me since I was 3 because my mom didnt want me and was abusive/druggy and so was my dad and still is. Now in 2004 I had to come live with my mom when my grandma died. It has been hell. I mean people do have it worse than me, but I am not one of those kids who hates her mom for no reason, or just because I dont get my way. My mom has problems. I would like to try to move on my own (and I know how hard it is going to be). I have a small paying job at McDonalds, and I have furniture at someones house that I have been buying and storing there.
So do you know if it is legal, or possible to be emancipated? If so, would you happen to know the legistics of it...legal fees, and info...
I would appreciate it.

I'm not in school anymore, because I was in an online school, but they threw me out. Long story short, my mom turned off the internet at the house that I was using to do my school work, because she left for Flordia in November and came home Sunday. But she turned the internet off and then i had to get my internet turned on and then my school computer didnt work. So I have a good friend and a pastor and in reference to someone elses post, I've read a child called it and what is a Child Advocate?

I would get a free consultation with legal aid and explain the situation with them. Also Yes you can get emancipation but it is a difficult process you must be prepared for the judge will have some difficult questions for you. Read all you @ the library and they may even have some of the forms you may need. Good Luck and I hope all goes well.

First of all, you did not tell your age. Now, you should be able to become emancipated if you have enough money saved to get an apartment and to pay for your bills. If you have somebody, such a church members who would let you live with them or rent a room from them, that is an idea. My daughter was sixteen and couldn't live with her dad or me. Her dad was abusive and I did not allow her to do certain things in my home that she wanted. At the age of 17, she was on her own. She did quit school but became a manager of restaurant. She rented an apartment and did just fine. Why not call a family lawyer to get free advice. You may not even have to go to court. Lawyers will give free advice for first call and some will do probono (unsure of spelling but will handle your case for free). The Bar association in your area may be able to help you also. Do not give up. Get the heck out of there. Please take care of yourself.

Well first off you have to prove to a Judge you can care for yourself Fincially..which is hard but truly if it is that bad, call a Child advocate they are there for you for free. or go to your school ( they actually protect you) I want you to read the book by Dave pelzer (A child called it) and then when your done reading it think hard. but anyway I think it is great you have a job but find a child advocate ok. don't just leave unless you are protected by an adult that is trusting, like a friends parents and by the way, do you have a frined a good one that you like their parents then confide in one of them someone will help you.
