I am on Atkins for 2 months and lost 22 lbs. Its pretty good but it really get frustrated when it stop declining. My Story goes like this.
When i started i was 205 lbs and it went down to 191 lbs in 2 weeks. I was really happy and looking forward to lose more lbs in nest couple of weeks. But it almost stopped and in next 2 weeks it only fell to 187lbs. :-(
Then i took a break of one week and started eating everything which i missed in last 1 month and gained around 4.5lbs. Reason for doing this what to change my Body Chemicals and then to start Atkins. Which i did and my weight went down to 184 lbs. In the next week i lost further 4 pounds.
Now it is again stopped for the last 4 days and my frustration is at its peak.
Tell me what should i do? Should i take a break for couple of days or a week and then starts Atkins Diet, or Should i wait?
Profession Advice and Personal Experiences will be more appreciated.
Wish me all the best.Thanks

First of all you need to get the book and READ IT! ALL of it! I can tell you haven't because you would have KNOWN that in the first 2 weeks of Induction you will typically loose weight fast then start to loose slower. Some people can stay the same for a couple weeks then all of a sudden loose 5 pounds! You have to keep at it though. Atkins is not a diet. It is a way of life! Stopping and starting over and over will not help. You need to have a little patience. If you go back to eating like you used to, you will just gain back what you lost and each time you try to go back to low carb it will be harder to take it off.

the problem with diets is that they don't work, at least not in the long run. the only way to lose the weight and keep it off is to change your lifestyle. if you completely elimate the foods that you like from your diet, your going to crave them and want them causing you to "cheat" so instead you should make them a part of your diet making sure that you eat them in moderation. that way you can get your "fix" but still healthy.
the other important thing people forget about is exercising. that's also important, not just for losing weight but maintaining a healthy weight once you've reached it. a good mix of aerobic and anaerobic exercise is important. remember lean muscle burns more calories than fat and it also burns it more effiently.
the other thing to keep in mind is that muscle weight more than fat (I think it's 7x more but I'm not positive on the number) so instead of focusing as much on the weight try to focus on how your clothes fit and if possible get a body composition done (find out what % body fat you have when you start and work toward getting that to a healthy number)
as far as the plateau you hit, that's normal it's going to happen. the best way to fight it is to change your routine a little bit.
intake of calories = calories burned -weight is maintained
intake of calories > calories burned - weight increases
intake of calories < calories burned - weight decreases
basically what happens when you hit a plateau is that your body has adjusted to the amount of calories you consume (intake) so you weight stays the same. if you want to lose more weight you need to either decrease you caloric intake or increase the amount of calories you burn
so basically all that I'm trying to say is this, the Atkins Diet isn't good anyway. you should NEVER completely elimate anything from your diet and carbs are what provide your body with energy. if you want to break the plateau you need to increase your physical activity. walk whenever possible, take the stairs instead of the elevator, find a phyiscal activity you enjoy doing (something that gets your heart rate up) and go out and do it
okay I'll get off my soapbox now but hope that helps

Atkins is not a diet that you can take a break from. It doesn't work that way, as you see. You have to start over from scratch.

Your body will always go through a plateu. You have to push your self harder when this happens. Your body needs constant change in routine to keep the fire burning.
