This girl in Europe is my bestfriend's roommate and she was having online relationship with someone in the US. They met offline ONCE in her country and they have been planning marriage and stuff. He's suppossingly rich, but yet never offers her any ticket for her to visit him in the US for the 3 yrs they're 'dating'. Lately they've been talking seriously about being together. She then quit her job, her lease, and my bestfriend got another roommate, and waiting for him to take care of moving her stuff to the US. The guy said he would send her the ticket etc and then few days later his friend contacted my bestfriend over IM said that the guy died in an accident. Coincidence? I'm too pesimitic to believe. I've checked the guys's name with birthdate on people search when he was still 'alive' and couldn't find any record on that name. What do you think?

Yikes! She's not my friend! She happens to be living with my bestfriend. If she was my friend I would slap her around until she wakes up.

Apparently many adults young and old feel that meeting potential mates online is a working alternative. If you believe you are a good person and you go online, there must be many others like you. There is indeed a market for online dating.

You meet crooks even in real life but that likelihood drastically increases online because the person on the other side can hide so many things and you have no way of verifying it. There are plenty of examples of people falling for money and love scams.

As always, you have to raise your guard and do that 100 times online.

ok I have taken the time to read this so many times I know it by heart.......your bestfriends roommate should not be your problem....not being mean just saying....I dont know how any one can have a REAL RELATIONSHIP ONLINE....if they met OFFLINE..then he does excisesd. Dateing is something you do in person..not on a screen with letters...to help say what you want...lol......one min they are PLANNING marriage....then you say they have been TALKING about getting together....anybody that believe half the stuff they read on here is nutts......

This reminds me of the time that one of my friends got into an online relationship, and the girl who he had never met got cancer. This somehow ended the relationship. Online relationships are ridiculous and should not be taken seriously. The girl must have been extraordinarily naive to quit her job and everything.

Which brings me to the point: would you like to be my online girlfriend?

totally a phoney. i could be wrong but it really sounds like some random married man bored with his life so he chats your friend up just for fun until it actually becomes serious. who knows though. 3 years is a long time.

Tell your friend to walk away and chalk it up to a learning experience. At least this "rich" guy didn't take anything from her.
