Me and my new hubbie found out we are expecting our first child together. This makes #3 for me and #2 for him. Our children range in ages from 9yrs, 8yrs, and 6yrs... Does anyone have a cute or unique way to announce to them they are going to be a big brother/sisters?? I want it to be special.

I have six children......ages 11,11,8,6,6 and 19 months. When hubby and I were expecting #6 we waited until the others were at school and went out and bought our daughter a button pin that said "big sister" and the boys button pins that said "big brother" on them. We then had the house decorated in pink, blue, yellow and green balloons (all pastel of course). We also had dinner ready when they came in. Naturally, the first thing they saw were the balloons so the excitement and curiosity roared! We ate off of paper plates that were also in the pink, blue, yellow and green. We made the kids their own name plate so we would know where the "big sister" pin was. We folded the pins neatly into the napkins so that when the kids unfolded them they would find them. It took a few minutes for them to catch on but when it hit them, they loved it.

Congrats!

Me and my hubby told our other children like this, we took them out to eat at their favorite restaurant. This is a place where their are other children. My husband told them we were going to play a game while we were waiting on the pizza..name the babies at other tables. Our children starting talking about names that would suit the babies around us. I then told them..if you all had another baby brother/sister what would you like to name it? They started naming names..My hubby told them that we had a surprise for them; then told them that we would use one of the the names for their new brother/sister. They are so excited..Good luck to you and your family!

Make a dinner with a baby theme. Everything you cook should be tiny like baby carrots etc... As they are eating drop little hints until they guess!

I wasn't very imaginative. I had to tell older children twice, and I went with, "Hey - you know what?"

but - hey, you know what? It was special both times :) It really was.
