They should respect the values of the country they live in like a well mannered guest. They may also respect their values from where they came from. Who are we who live here to say that our way of living is the best or only right way to be or believe? The key word is respect. You can believe whatever you want to as long as you don't hurt anyone in the process.

They should respect the values AND the laws of the country they immigtrated to. I do hear some immigrants say their country is better, so I'm confused by the fact they left their country in the 1st place. How great could their country be if they left it ?

Its like they are not really aboded to do that but still they are actually not Immigrants only but the Brand Ambassador actually , so they must have to understand that its not only there duty but there Honor to respect the cultural and Social values of the country they are into..
N in India there are so many cases found that some foreigners are not up to that, and that all ruin the all good deeds of their own country..
But Indians do believe in this..

Dear friend SW, I kind of strugled a little with your question so what I did was try & think obout myself visiting a forien land & I think if your just visiting "I say when in rome do as romans do" but if I was going to reside & permanetly live there I see nothing rude or disrespectful about making conparisions & venting your dislikes or disagreements with our system & laws. the chinese has gone through many deferent leaders cultures with thousands of years at doing it we are a very young country with a lot of work to do and a judisal system of laws that make everything posible.

An "immigrant" is one who wants to assimilate into the society of his new country.. learn the language, be responsible and productive. On the other hand, an "illegal alien" does none of the above. If you feel that the country you're from is much better than the one you're immigrating to, by all means, stay home.

Of course they should respect the values of the country they live in, or they should not have come here. That isn't to say they can't have respect for the value systems they left.

As individuals we are entitled to our own opinions. Right or wrong we have our own thoughts. I do believe that if you go to a country that has certain dress standards or things that you are or are not allow to do in public , I think that while you are there you should honor their standards. If you choose to live in a country that you don't agree with their system then you will only make your own life harder. Life is full of choices and we have to make them everyday. Live life to the fullest

If their own country is so great why don't they stay there. If a person wants to come to this country they should show some respect.

Yes they should show nothing but respect to the values of the country that they come too. Otherwise, stay where they are.

They should adapt to the way the country is run. If they feel it can be better or would like to incorporate things they should petition for it.
But I dont want them implementing a 1 child policy here.
