I am babysitting a 2 year old boy, who is very hyper, and wears diaper. The boy gets droped of at my house at 12:00 and gets picked up at about 12:30 am or even 1:00 am. So that is 12 hours straight that I take care of him I play with him feed him and bath him. I want to know what is a reasonable price to charge his mother for this amount of time. We had started at $8.00 but I think that that price is to high scince she would end up paying about $100.00 a night and I thought that that amount was to high can you give me some resonable prices that I can charge. No daycares in my area take care of children 12 hours 5 days a week and 1 day out of the week end.

How much should I charge for the week-end?

I don't turn on the t.v till its dark outside, we play most of the day. I am cpr certified and have been doing this for 10 years. This is the first time I have to work 12 hours and I have to be with him at all times scince he is hyper and tends to get himself in to trouble sometimes he also tends to open doors and want to go out side alone..

I would charge her $200-300 a week. You are watching him more than 10hrs a day and also 1 day on the weekend...and daycares charge $130-150 a week where I live and Most dont watch the children at night or weekends. So depending on whether or not she can afford it...I think that would be a reasonable rate. I stay home with my 2yr and watch my friends 2yr at home and she loves it here and I charge her $100wk for 5 days cause she is my friend and she only stays for maybe 9hrs or less. So I think she should pay you reasonable because you are watching him alot of hours and providing him with excellent care in your home. Hope this helps

If she is willing and able to pay the $100 per night, I wouldn't jump to conclusions about whether or not she can afford it. Think about it first. IS she willing and able, because if so, it's not bad to accept it, and if she wasn't wouldn't she say something (I don't know if these people have real money coming in or not you would have an idea of if they do hopefully)... are you making an issue out of something that isn't really an issue? If you still feel that it is an issue and you aren't being fair to ask her for that much, consider not charging by the hour, but by the night. Consider how much you think you would like to make for taking care of a child for that long, that often, and what you need to be able to take care of your own bills.

That is heartbreaking. Poor kid. You're not babysitting, you're mothering. He's with you most of his waking hours. What on earth does she do that she's gone so much?

Sorry, I know that didn't answer your question... I wouldn't go lower than $5 an hour, at the minimum. Frankly, I think $8 is better.

If she can pay you $8/hr then let her. If you are concerned that it might be too much for her, then talk to her and ask her what she would be willing to pay. Being that he's hyper and you have to practically follow him around, then I wouldn't go any lower than $60. You deserve whatever she gives you, if she wants to pay you over that.

i would try maybe 30 a day, after all nobody can afford 100 a day, and he will be asleep for most of the time.that would still be 150 a week for that one kid

I would say about 60.00 a night, usually a daycare is about 4.00 an hour for each kid,
