Where can I get a FREE PowerPoint downloadable program, or at least some sort of program that opens PowerPoint files or converts ppt to pdf or something similar? My prof posts his notes online but they're in powerpoint and I can't open them.

No, you won't want to convert them to PDFs, PPT is a different thing totally, ti's more like a slideshow rather than a document.
Sort of like trying to make a song into a book. And reading the lyrics on your cell phone instead of actually listening to the song.

Take it from someone who has been looking since last june. If you are going to look for a program like powerpoint, be ready to look for a REALLY long time. I suggest you just buy it, or tell your proffessor to post the notes in another format.

You can get the PowerPoint Viewer from the Microsoft website: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=428D5727-43AB-4F24-90B7-A94784AF71A4&displaylang=en

There are free programs (even one made by microsoft) that open and allow you to view powerpoint files.
Try this one. It is made by microsoft and is freeware. (Copy and paste this to your address bar).

openoffice.org BUT its one BIG file. Better have DSL or cable or a friend that does. Works great from what I hear. Just like MS Office!
