There's this girl that is in a couple of my classes, we've known each other for almost a year. Anyways, she usually choses to sit next to or in front of me, even if more than half the class is empty. We usually walk each other out and we just talk about things, she occassionally slows down to talk even if she is in a rush. I think that it's just usually small-talk but I'm not sure, it's usually about what's going on, how are you feeling, the course, work, whatever. (If anyone can clarify, that would help). Also whenever she sees me, she always smiles at me. She is shy and when we first met, she didn't really look at me or anyone else for that matter, but now, she is constantly smiling and on occassion looking at me. I also think that she blushes on occassion when I with her, but it's been kind of hard to tell for various reasons. I like her but I'm not sure if she has the same feelings as I do. If anyone has any helpful advice, please feel free to share.

Wanting to spend time with you is a good sign, as is blushing and smiling at you. However, I can understand if you don't want to extend yourself and either A) look like a fool or B) ruin a good friendship. Since Valentines Day is coming up, you could use that as a conversation starter. Ask if she has plans or wishes anyone in particular would surprise her with something nice. Ask in a casual tone, not eager as if you want her to say 'you'. If she starts talking about some other guy , you have your answer. Ask her what she would consider to be romantic or what she would like a guy to do for her. (Some hate flowers, chocolate and all that stuff, but not many). Try to read her expressions and tone, whether or not she appears to get nervous or not, etc. If it looks like you're in the clear for a move, you need to decide if you're going to take the opportunity. What's the worst that can happen?
She laughs at you. So, now you're the fool, come back with something casual. Explain that since no one else gave her anything you were just trying to make her feel good. friends do do that for each other.

Good grief, what is your problem? Get going! The worst that can happen is that she'll say that she just wants to be friends. Hold her hand. Ask her out. Group date. But, DO SOMETHING. All the signals are there. If she hasn't gotten your attention by now, have a friend whack you upside the head with a 2 x 4.
