It may not clear on it's own and could cause permanent hearing loss if untreated. Take the antibiotics she prescribed. The antibiotics are not bad unless you get lots of infections and need them too often. Those are the people that that wind up with trouble from taking them too often.

Lately, whenever I have ear infections, I just leave them alone. Every time I see a doctor about it, they always prescribe the same ear drop, and the drops don't help at all (my ear always hurts 50x worse after putting the drops in). If the infection is in my right ear, I just make sure to keep my hearing aid off as much as possible. This is just me though, and it's probably not the best move to leave my ear infections alone, but I refuse to mess with ear drops.

If untreated, ear infection will continue to become worse or chronic and there is a chance of permanent or partial loss of hearing.
Please avoid upper respiratory infections in future. Whenever you get common cold, there is a chance of spreading the infection to the inner ears. Please do steam inhalations, warm salt water gargles etc.
Acute otitis media is a bacterial or viral infection of the middle ear, usually accompanying a URI. Symptoms include otalgia, often with systemic symptoms (fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), especially in the very young. Diagnosis is based on otoscopy. Treatment is with analgesics and sometimes antibiotics.
Please see the web pages for more details on Otitis media.

I have just one thing to add to the other answers--I don't know what antibiotic you were prescribed but
if you have an allergic reaction--the quickest way
out of it is Benadryl. Then call your physician ASAP.
Allergic reaction: Feeling hot/ face and body areas
flushed (red)/ rash/itching. Go to the emergency
room IF you feel faint/it's hard to breath/your tongue
and/or lips are swelling.

your body is equiped to fight it, if your body is healthy and strong and it will clear, but you will likley get it again, if your dont completley get rid of it.
Antibiotics are fine, the work no problem, sure if you take them in access they become less potent, but for once in a while ear infection, take the meds, and save yourself some pain and trouble.
BTW, if you take the meds, finish the meds, dont stop half way, that is no good. you need to finish the prescription to make sure you gotten rid of the infection

Your doctor prescribed the medicine for a reason. Take it, or you risk severe hearing damage.

No, won't clear up on its own. Take the medicine before you damage your ears for good.
