My computer is a home desktop compaq presario 7000 with a standard win98.
the system restore freezes after every try any ideas?

the restore file is most probably corrupted thats why it always stops at 15%. u hav two options: reformat (completely erase) the hard rive and install a fresh copy of the OS (windows98). since ur going to do this id suggest u put in a newer OS such as xp instead of win98 or even try a free Linux OS such as Ubuntu.
or u can get a new computer. id go with option two since the computer is really outdated and Alan H is right, HP Compaq (theyre one company) is crap anyways....

The sad truth is that you may have to reload all of your operating system. Good luck with that though since you are using a compaq!
