I'm afraid it will stretch out and look nasty. Anyone have any experience with this?

I have a whole huge piece done from my pubic bone up to an inch under my belly button, mostly it is covered by my panties but if I wear low jeans you can see alot of it. I am 37 weeks pregnant and I have not gained but about 22 lbs and my tattoos still look great, I have no stretch marks or anything. make sure you keep your belly moisurized before and after your tattoo because you dont want it lookin bad! I don't regret getting mine though and they are about 3 or 4 years old and I am on my first baby!

Two things can happen:

It will either look deformed and messed up

Or

Your skin will go back to the way it was.

Most common is the first one. The tattoo will get stretched out and look funny. For some women, they have very elastic skin and don't have the problem of a deformed tattoo. Better safe than sorry, don't do it until AFTER you have the kid(s)

I've asked this before regarding hip tattoos. I was told it almost certainly would stretch and look bad, but that said, you may be one of the lucky ones that doesn't get stretch marks. So I guess it comes down to whether you are one of the lucky ones.

yes. it will look not nearly as nice as it did before you had a child. as you pregnancy goes along, you start to get stretch marks due to your skin stretching. your tattoo is going to stretch with this and will never quite look the same. if you are going to do this then wait until after you have the child. hope this helps. good luck.

While I do not have first-hand knowledge with getting a tattoo (anywhere) nor getting pregnant, I would tend to agree with your concerns. Obviously, when a woman is pregnant, her belly expands and any tattoo on that area of the body will grow as well. I would think that you would really only have to worry about this for nine months ... following giving birth, you could exercise and return to your previous figure (and your tattoo should return to its original state).

It depends on your skin and your type of body. Are you in shape now? will you get stretch marks? will your belly look the same? I don't think that's a good idea.Get it on your back or legs, even arms. think about when you get older, a saggy tatoo is not sexy, especially the ones you have to look at when youre in front of the mirror.

Good grief, if I had a belly tattoo, it would really look comic now - with a herniated belly button and bad stretch marks from my pregnancies...

it mostly depends on two things. how much weight you gain and your genetics. some people have wonderful genes and when they walk out of the hospital they look like a million dollars and have lost all of their baby weight. then there are others who have stretched out flabby skin forever. if i were you i would wait until after you have kids to see what your stomach and hips look like then.

As long as you keep your body in shape while pregnant and moisturize it a lot,you will not get stretch marks and your tattoo will look good still.

My cousin had a small tattoo right by her belly button and it still looks good. I would just get a small one if you get one.
