you can still go to school, and get the training that you nee...Good Luck! I suggest to take a community college...that would be easier....

Go for it if that's what you want to do.

My son-in-law was in training with guys who were career military and were going into police work after retiring from the army. In fact the guy who got the 'most athletic' award was 55 years old.

Even if you can't get in the patrol division, you could try for the detention officer position. They work the jails.

Some colleges have a police academy that you can go to.
If not, then be a Corrections Officer. The Academy is only a couple of months long.

I suggest you call the human resources dept of your police dept. and tell them what you want and they will transfer your call to the appropriate person. It is not unusual for someone to be 45 and just be deciding. Go for it

No Offense dude... but I think your a little too old! But you should call the agency your planning to work for and find out what the age limit is for their department.

which department are you looking to get into? what city? CHP has a age limit of 36. LAPD has no age limit. You can be 60 years old as long as you are physically and mentally fit, you are welcome to join.
