Do you sing well? Does he?
If the answer to both is "yes," then just ask. Tell him you think that with HIS voice, you two can win!
Flattery always helps.

just be yourself and go up and ask him if he would like to rehearse with you for the up coming talent show. Then hit him with a few keys lyrics that is so that he can hear how good you are and if that impresses him then he'll differently will give you a yes, but just don't over do it OK, on the singing part remember just a few bars of your favorite song ( i hope this will help you )
good luck.

Just ask. You're not asking him to get married. It's just a talent show.
As far as his singing ability, it depends on your purpose. If your purpose is to do something with the guy you like, his singing doesn't matter. If your purpose is to do well in the talent show, choose someone who will make a good singing partner.

Here's a bit of advice that hopefully will serve you well all your life: If you want to ask a man something, be direct. Ask they guy if he can sing, and if he'd like to join you in the talent show.

Just ask him. You aren't asking him to get romantically involved in anyway. It is a very platonic gesture. And if he says no, don't worry about it. He probably just doesn't like singing. It would give you a chance to get to know him better as well, so go for it. What do you have to loose? The worst that can happen is that he won't sing with you, and if you don't ask him he won't anyway! You really don't have anything to lose by asking him, so go for it, and don't be nervous!

If you know him well enough, do it casual. If you don't like that path or you hardly know the guy, then take him aside or talk to him where you are sitting/standing and build up the strength to ask. If you know and he knowa that you are both good singers, then he might just say yes.The worst that can happen is that he says no. But that still doesn't mean you don't have a chance with him. Wheither or not a guy will admit it, guys love attention from girls. Speak your mind, speak from the heart and you will do great. Best of luck to you!

FIRSTLY, DOES THIS INDIVIDUAL SING? IF SO, HE MAY NOT WANT TO SING FOR SOME VERY VALID REASONS. MANY SINGERS DON'T LIKE TO SING WITH ANYONE BECAUSE OF A CONCERN FOR THE BLEND OF THE VOICES. SINGING A DUET IS A DIFFICULT TASK AND HE MAY NOT WANT TO DEVOTE THE TIME TO IT (FOOTBALL SEASON DON'T CHA KNOW) HE MAY NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE SINGING WITH SOMEONE HE DOESN'T HAVE A SINGING HISTORY WITH (CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR PERFORMANCE, ETC.) WITH ALL THIS CONSIDERED, I WOULD STILL ASK. ALL HE CAN SAY IS NO. HE MIGHT SAY YES. THAT'S A 50/50 OPPORTUNITY BUT IF YOU DON'T ASK FOR SURE IT'S A NO.

Ask him like Fred asks Angelina for the Yule Ball, its more fun and the guy will be happy to sing with you.

No guts, no glory...Just ask. The most he can do is say no. If you win that talent show he'll look like an idiot.
