What u wanna transfer? Where do going to use that DVD?
Its depends on the above questions.

Suppose if u wanna transfer an DVD file from media player to DVD and u r going to play that in a DVD player connecting to a TV, then u have to just write those file into the DVD using DVD wrting software Like Niro, Sony or anything u have.Even u can use the Window media player itself. but its depend what version of windows media player u have. Some older versions don't that features. And some version have only writing Data file and Mp3 file. Its means that u can also write the DVD files using that but it will be an data cd, not a movie CD. So u DVD player connected with TV may not paly this.

It also depends on what DVD player u have. because some player also supports data disc also. some players won't support.

And suppose if what to exiting mpe or mpg or mpeg or wmv or avi file to be written in DVD and which u r going play in DVD player which is connected to TV, then u have use appropriate converters and after that u have to write as i said above.

And suppose if u want write into a DVD which u r going to use only in Computer DVD reader, then u can write any file as a Data disc using any DVD writing software.

One more important thing is that to write in to DVD from ur system, u should have DVD writer in ur system.

(Always put the question clearly what u want exactly with details)

You cannot copy DVDs to your HD using Media Player. There are programs that can "rip" DVDs, but it is typically illegal in most countries as it involved decrypting a copyright protection scheme on the DVD.

Total Video Converter works well, but it is comes with a trial period. I think you can download it from download.com which is safe and reliable. If your a little mischievous you might be able to get the patch from a website so you can use it for free and forever. Or if it's a one time deal you could try searching for a website that will convert the files for you. Good luck!
