It is possible that they vet accidentally left some ovarian tissue behind, which makes them have the hormones that cause heat. It is also possible that she got into something that she shouldn't that is causing excessive bleeding (rat and mouse poison can cause it) and it is just coming out of her vulva. If she is acting normal she will be fine until morning.

I had a female dog that would go into heat after being spayed. I spent over $1000 on her trying to find out why. I ended up taking her to a specialist and they said that the vet left a little bit of the uterus and part of an ovary in her, which is why she would come into heat.

Is it defiantly coming from her Vagina? As if it is She could have a stump infection. When the vet cuts of the uterus which is just above the cervix sometimes they can leave a bit to much behind and it can get infected. Does it smell? She could have a Urinary tract infection that is severe enough to make her bleed. She could be passing a stone thus causing it to bleed. Are you sure of where the blood is actually coming from?
It could be a variety of things may be you can find a vet that is after hours.

When did the bleeding start? you should have had her looked at immediately if it started earlier in the day
PS even if the vet left ovarian tissue behind she should not be bleeding it will only cause her to have hormonal symptoms the same as a heat but the area that enter blood down through the cervix has been clean cut of.
Sorry all you guys that have said that.

Good luck

If you know for sure she was spayed then you need to take her to the vet. If she is only bleeding a small amount you can probably wait till morning. If she is bleeding alot you should find an emergency vet and take her now. Good luck!

you should keep her in a kennel that way other dogs cant get to her until you can get her to the vet tomorrow if you have small kids in diapers you can cut out a hole for her tail to fit thru and put a diaper on her so the blood doesnt get on everything in the house and car it your keeping her inside tonight also take that diaper with you to the vet so they will have an idea on how fast she's passing blood but definently get her checked out and good luck

This is not normal. A spayed female will not come in heat. Something is wrong. Is she bleeding very much? Is it when she pees or is she just spotting?

This sounds like there is some sort of other problem going on. I dont want to scare you, but get her to the vet right away. This sounds like a dangerous infection.

Could be a urinary tract infection, or rarely, a missed piece of ovarian tissue can cause this.
