I think there are certain laws in different states that require you to be at least a certain age before you marry. For the most part I think you have to be at least 18 yrs old. Check to see what it is for your state. If yall can't marry now because of your age, if he really loves you and wants to be with you, then he'll wait.

Why marry so young for the child that not fair. I say go back to school have WELFARE help you get some supports, Daddy should get a job then save enough money then get marry, and have a happy family. I know from experience that marrying that young lead to divorce and more money. Sweet 16 still young to know if he the only man in your life get professional help before you jump into somethings that you,ll regret for the rest of your life. The parent of the 16 will then get custody, and his parent get custody only if the court can find if the father is able to, and no criminal record.

You really need to check the laws for your state since none of us know where that is, but here once you give birth your a adult, no if ands or buts, you are legally entitled to anything a 18 year old would be, with the exeption of cigs and alchol. So you can legally get married without parental permission.

I had the same dilemma I was 15, he was 19. and upon doing some research I found that my state (Georgia) had a law allowing pregnant girls (over 14) to get married as long as the man would admit the baby was his, I found this info on the internet at a site about state marriage laws, so i would research your states laws if I were you.And please keep in mind that you cant find just any state that has one of those laws (me and my husband both had to show proof of where we lived). If you find that you live in one of those states you both simply go to the courthouse (with ID) and fill out the papers.

I would call that robbing the cradle your under the age he is a pedophile why would your parents even allow this to happen. If this was known to the cops he would be in jail at this time and would never be allowed to have custody of your child. Because of the record that will follow him from know on congrats on this father not being around.

Laura, you are 16 and that makes you a child. You will have to get your parents permission to get married. I don't understand the custody issues, it's probably because he is a statutory rapist.

You need to check with your states legal requirements but here in IL you have to be 18 to get married unless your parents sign and give you consent. I think you need to call a lawyer to find out what you legally have to do in your state.

Search around, there might be a state that will let you marry at 16 without your parents consent, otherwise you need your ok from your parents.
