And the colors:

Fawn, azure and russet?

I have an interest in colors and wonder what tint of a color they are. Thanks a bunch!

Ochre is so old it is almost ancient and prehistoric. There are 3 types (brown ochre, red ochre, and yellow ochre).

best brown ochre to come from Cyprus, and the best yellow and red ochre from Roussillon, France. All have been used since prehistoric times, and are some of oldest pigments used.

Fawn is a very light beige, azure is color of a very pleasant blue sky , and russet is a shade of red, best described by the shade of the gem russett potatoes.

Ocher (or ochre) is usually created by blending red and yellow pigments. Azure comes from ground lapis lazuli, I believe. Fawn refers to a light, grayish brown, and russet is a strong brown, with a hint of red.
